Hi,

I want to use one of my PCs is a network.... but... the PC in question has no network / ethernet card or modem in it. (despite this it's actually quite a powerful PC with a decent GPU in it).

I bought what I thought was a PCI network card from eBay (10/100 Ethernet PCI card). It was a very cheap, shoddy Chinese unit that cost me £2 ($4) !!

But when it came and I installed it and it's drivers, my PC did not show any PCI Network device within my Network Connections in the XP Control Panel.

The card had it's own .exe. application that you run, that was half in Chinese and that basically didn't work properly.

I uninstalled the thing and threw it in the bin !

Can anyone tell me what I should be looking for ?

I want a card that (when installed) will show up in my Network Connections, as a proper network card - where I can access properties, set the IP number, etc, etc.

Many thanks for any pointers!
