Spur gears for 737 TQ

Hello all,

I have been using the following site as a guide to building a 737 TQ:

I am at the stage where I am about to start assembling the main components and need a little help with the components. Does anyone in this forum know of the best place to get hold of spur gears in the UK? I’m looking for thin plastic gears, 4 with aprox 60 teeth and 4 with aprox 20 teeth. I have already been to the model shops in town and can only find rather expensive gears that do no quite match my requirement. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Try Ebay, I am sure there are many Radio controlled vehicle gears that can meet your requirements.

They're relativly inexpensive, compared to the rest of the cockpit :)

Plastic (acytal or "Delrin") spur gears are stock items carried by many industrial supply companies. The trick, of course, is to find such a company that both ships to your locale and doesn't have an outrageous minimum order requirement. I've had good luck ordering from Servo-O-Link (www.servolink.com (http://www.servolink.com)) and from MSC Industrial Supply (www.mscdirect.com (http://www.mscdirect.com)). However, I don't know what either company's international shipping policies are.

McMaster-Carr (www.mcmaster.com (http://www.mcmaster.com)) and Stock Drive Products (http://www.sdp-si.com) are other possibilities.

Hi, This is my first post. I just joined the forum today and saw you post from back in December. I built the same quadrent from the same website. I had trouble finding the spur gears and when i installed them using the rotory pots i have ajustment problems. I switched to a slide potentiometer (you can purchase from PhidgetUSA website)they are easy to install and use the full range of the pot. By using the slide pots there is no need for the gearing to the rotory pot. I hope this helps good luck.

Yes,, I got a couple of bags of those Knex gears from Ebay at a pretty good price.
They work good.

Buy direct just what you need at Knex..they cost less than a dollar a piece...total budget around 10 USD !!
