Hi all,

Today I got my head around the complexities of a device called a ‘sewing machine’! After a half hour of intense instruction from the missus on how to feed the thread through countless contraptions and how to start and stop I managed to successfully sew my scrap pieces of cloth together with some pretty neat stitching. $40 later I had 4 metres of black linen and managed to produce a great pair of black curtains for the sides of my sim and it’s turned out great. Now that my music room has been removed from my peripheral vision the sim feels even more like a vehicle in motion.
I’m even looking forward to attempting more projects with this amazing sewing machine, why should the girls have all the fun? I can see upholstery things happening soon! Also posted a pic of my new map lights.

Cool...Im glad you learned a new 'trade'! My father in law is really good on a sewing machine too. He and his wife has made every curtain (and several different sets at that) for our entire house! Map lights look nice too. I wonder where I could find some that look lear-esque for my sim...

Ahhhh yes the sewing machine. I remeber my first time too. It was very cool actaully. I even moved on to making my own hunting vests and finshed it off with all the curtains in the bathroom. Thats cool that you learned to sew it yourself now you have a little more knowledge which is always a good thing.

Yeah,
I learned to sew on that dang founded contraption many years ago, while sewing uniforms and tents for American Civil war re-enacting. (was, is ,cheaper to make it yourself) but definitely a great skill to have. plus take a look at your local fabric shop, I found some Boeing brown vinyl at good deal for covering armrests or glareshield .
there are a ton of ideas out there for your sim building, I find that a well stocked hobby shop has lots of materials for sim building too, as well as craft stores.
so welcome to the proud few! ;)

They're not just for the girls anymore.

I'd still be in the shop hand sewing seat covers if I didn't have a machine.

Always good to learn something new.
