View Full Version : Alternate method for flaps action in a quadrant

Hi guys,

It seems that the most popular method to date for actioning flaps action is using 2 microswitches - one for the command "action" and one for determining whether it is a flaps "up" or "down" command.

Would it not be much simpler to use an incremental encoder (also known as a quadrature encoder), which can sense direction? This could save on quite a lot of complex mechanical linkages...

A similar method could be employed for the trim.

Am I missing something here? Or could this method work?

Cheers!

It's easier to just use a pot and FSUIPC.

number one basic and best meathod is pot and fsuipc. not because of any particular mechanical advantage, but because peter dowson made it so with his software.

I got mine from Innovate Motorsports but they only have 10" travel pots. It will work fine for your needs but for roll and pitch, you need the correct length to get full resolution. Search for a local supplier in your area would probably be cheaper.
