Hi guys,
As you can see im new here, nice to meet you all :)
I've started getting all the parts bit by bit in order to build my home simulator. Not so long ago I bought OpenCockpits MCP USB version, which should be plug and play etc. I have SIOC ver 3.41. Im looking to use this with Project Magenta's MCP software so I can use it in FSX with the default 737 that comes with FSX.
Im having problems at the moment with the MCP I only took it out of the box yesterday to have a play around with my toy, but I cannot for the love of me get it working. I have followed all the instructions for adding some lines in sioc.ini file also with the script I want sioc to load on runtime which would be the MCP_737.txt im sure.
When I load up SIOC and also load up FSX with FSUIPC and the PM MCP software the lights come one for about 5 seconds and then turns off again. I cant use my MCP with anything.
I've also noticed that the support on the OC site is next to none, or it's in Spanish in which i am not fluent in. I can see MyCockpits has added in a OC section for people with their hardware.
So do any of you OC guys knows what is going on or can lead my in the right way.
SIOC 3.41
FSX SP2
Projectmagenta Latest updates
FSUIPC: latest Version registered.
Thanks for the help.

POst up the SIOC.ini file and a screen shot of your SIOC running.

I you notice on your SIOC display, it shows IDX=0 0 is the device number
Uograde to SIOC 3.5, also download the SIOC INI set-up program. Run the INI set-up program then run SIOC 3.5. Click on the config tab, in the config program, double chack ALL inputs have the device number correctly shown/assigned.

Can I ask, but which part of these lines of code in the config shows the Device number because I cant see it anywhere, or its probably right in front of my eyes I just can see it.

When you open the Config_SIOC, you double click on any of the "INPUTS", that opens the parameter window. On that window you will see a box labeled 'Dispositivo" put the device number in that box. Save your file and reload SIOC

Thanks for your help on this MCP, I have done everything you stated.
That config ini program is quite neat, theres a selection under master for my MCP which is what I selected. I then gave it an IDX number of 3. saved and reloaded, Now i can see my my device in there. I then followed into the config part and in putted the IDX number into every command that it showed under Dispositivo, Saved, reloaded and the displays and lights flashed and then back to nothing.
I wonder am I missing something. I cant contact OC about this because their support isn't any good for English spoken people.

OK, use the controlador program and verify the inputs and outputs match your assignments. Verify that it can 'see' the switches working. If it doesn't, you have other issues. Report back and let me know.

Hi, Just to let you know that I have only this version of the MCP I bought about 3 weeks or more ago.
This is it. It is not supposed to need any IO cards etc.

This module is completely plug&play (no need of USB driver). Only needs SIOC with your favourite configuration file that will link with the simulator via FSUIPC or IOCP.
Notice it says, needs SIOC with 'YOUR' configuration. I would still verify you see the inputs working, IOCP console will allow this as well. In the mean time, i will download and read the manual.

Hi 737NUT, The manual is 4 small pages long, with no great data, I will still follow your steps and post a screenshot for you. Thanks once again for having the most patience with me.

Right, I have checked it with IOCPconsole and opened the config file of MCP_737.ssi to add the commands inside. I have project magenta loaded along with FSX etc, I try use the hardware and notthing comes up. But If I use the mouse on the PM MCP I can see SIOC logging the commands, so this leads me to believe that FSUIPC is working and doing its job along with SIOC listening for commands from FSUIPC, but the hardware it self does notthing even tho the hardware is showing up in the main SIOC window with IDX=3 - IOcard MCP Device = 75
So I think I got a defect product. I thought these guys would at least test them before sending it out to me. Or I could be totally mistaken and its my dumbness that's making it not work.
Either way I know have to wait and sufice to broken english support in which takes days :(
This hasn't been a good experience for me at all with opencockpits.

[ MASTER=3,5,1,75] You should have that entry in your new sioc.ini file. Please verify and if you don't, add it and delete the entry that is in there.

Here's my ini file, as you can see its in there now and still not working. Im going to install FS2004 and see if that works with this MCP with the standard test. It will be interesting to see if it does or not. Il get back to you with further details. Thanks for the help the so far buddy !! :)

Ok, I've found out the problem, Its the USB Hub I was using that I got from Goflight, for some reason it doesn't like the MCP. Once I connected it into the main usb port on the PC and used MCPtest.exe all the lights and displays turned on and stayed on.
I can use it with FSX with PM, but the script functions are totally incorrect for the PM MCP interface.
Thanks 737Nut for helping me with this MCP, I really appreciate all your help you have given me while you also thought me a thing or two regarding the hole SIOC thing.

Hi
My script works just fine for the MCP von Opencockpits with PM MCP. Just need your E-mail address than I can send you my SIOC file.
Guess there are a few more here who want to have a look at it. Just ask and than I can send it out.
Cheers Norbert

Hi nricky,
Thanks for popping by and offering your script, I have sent you a PM with my email address if you want to pass it over. Im currently 20% programmed of this MCP. Having a full script would save me mega amount of time !
Hi guys,
Just for information. I have made a SIOC script that will let the Opencockpits MCP work flawlessly as a Level-D 767 MCP. It is available via Opencockpits
http://www.opencockpits.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=33
or via my website www.nicokaan.nl (http://www.nicokaan.nl) page downloads file name MCP737NG.txt.
You will also need my free Lekseecon program that connects SIOC digitally to the Level-D SDK via the IOCP protocol,
Note that the MCP module is hardware wise plug and play, but you still need to put some software/configuration parameters right (as well in SIOC.INI as in Lekseecon.ini). How to do that is indicated in my SIOC script, but some notion of programming (scripting) is recommended/needed. Do not expect it will work out of the box. Read that information and my Lekseecon manual carefully (3 times ;-) ) before starting to ask questions.
Note also that a lot of information about SIOC and SIOC scripts is available in the forums of Opencockpits. Most of it is in the English language.
regards,
Nico Kaan

Your welcome for the help, thats what this site is all about! :)
Glad you are making progress as well!! SIOC is fun once you start playing with it. Just back-up what works then make changes and additions and you will see how powerful it can be!
