LED for MIP and Backlightning

Hi everyone,

i want to request a "quick and dirty" overview, which LED i will need for

red announciator
green announciator
and
backlightning

I´m looking for 5mm LED and want to ask for sugesstions about the "mcd" and the voltage for the LED you usually use.

Sorry for asking this little stupid question, but my experience in electronic work are on a rookie´s level.
