Mikes Hawk 128 LIFT

A couple of pictures of the build, which may give you some idea of how it was constructed.... it took around 4 hours to get from a pile of bits to this, and then a further 4 hours to get to the semi-completed article seen in the posts above, so a good days work.

Very rudimentary at the moment.....

Wanted to get the shell built, so the concept could be proven before going on to putting in all the switched and controls. Still - great fun though.

Thanks Phil, I have an insider at BAE, and I have a very, very high res picture of the front and rear seats of the HAWK 128 LIFT cockpit. I also have a contact at Bombardier in Canada who gave me a load of stuff on the Global, including cockpit dimensions and a detailed schematic of the cockpit.

That's a cool little cockpit. You could take that just about anywhere.

That's the point, as we have the Global Cockpit as well - the image system is going to be fixed, and we'll wheel out the cockpit we want to use that day. The Hawk cockpit was made for a recruiting display at a local fair hence the idea of putting it on wheels to get it out of the building and into a truck.

Can't remember exactly, but it was a freeware model off the front of the Nov/Dec issue of PC Pilot

Thanks, I've just purchased Falcon 4 AF and I must say the panel and flight model is stunning! I'm thinking of diverting a bit of time to build a similar small pit like yours and sit it in front of my 42" LCD for some light flying (if you can call handling an F16 light).

the wood and wheels were left overs from our Glo-Ex project, the mini monitors were bought off ebay for around £15 each, if you take out the cost of the PC and projector, it is under £100 to build the "shell". I'm making the Hawk on a tight budget (most of the capital expenditure is going on the Glo-Ex) of scraps and left-overs where possible.

Makes me think how you could easily make something like this, and generic, for a single seat type of aircraft w/ a single monitor in the background for all types of aircraft, like a Cub, a fighter jet, old WWII aircraft, etc.
