Hello--I'm from Richmond, Virginia. I've been thinking for quite some time about building a home cockpit in my basement where my flight simulator computer is set-up (convincing the wife is an issue for me as well).

Came across this site on our FSX muliplayer forum, www.fs-mp.com in a post about the new FSC motorized 737 TQ (which is, unfortunately, out of my price range for the time being).

I will probably be starting simple at first with a twin turbo cockpit set-up, like the B1900D, DHC-8, or ATR72. Frankly, there is so much here, it is a bit hard to digest it all. I am so glad I stumbled onto this group!

I do some real world flying with friends who have airplanes (including a Raytheon/Beechcraft Premier 1A) and hope to be able to pursue my PPL soon (when the kids get older).

Welcome to the site. There is a lot of information to soak up, but it doesn't have to be all at once.

The ATR would be a great choice paired with Flight 1's flight model. I hear it's one of the best.

That is exactly what I have--it is a great model (as is their new MD80-Pro). Wow, is that your home cockpit? Unbelievable!:D:D

Yes. That is based on the DF727. A Lufthansa 727-230 to be exact.

Welcome to MyCockpit David! You'll enjoy it here. In turn, your wife might hate us.

I would never leave the house!:lol:

Actually you would never leave the basement :)

And depending on how she feels on this fact, you might or might not want to bring that up during the convincing phase ;)

Take a look around and feel free to ask questions about topics you can't find on the site already.

Hey--I've continued to visit the site to get inspired. The Lear looks tempting, but I am not sure I am at that level. I thought I'd try building the Push-Pull Throttle from Desktop Aviator, and if I can do it, try for something like this (maybe after the B1900D):
