Image Quality for Projectors

Hi,

Have a question about the image quality of using projectors vs LCDs. In a normal room there are windows that let in daylight. Fopr those of you who use projectors how does normal dayligh affect the projected image? Do you have to darken the room up or is a daylight image ok in a daylight room? I am having to make a decision soon as to whether to go with a TH2GO or a projector. My main aim is to have a larger image of the runway etc.

I think it would depend on the projector you were using. I tried using a projector for my visuals but had to keep the room quite dark to get a decent outside view. Now that I am using the Triplehead3Go and three monitors it's much better. My pit isn't enclosed (yet :D) so I've also found that using the monitors makes it feel more like your looking out a window.

I have an Epsom projector that I was using in my home theatre before I bought my 46" lcd TV. We had a lot of daylight especially in the mornings and I ended up asking my wife to make some liners for the inside of the curtains.
I now have this projector awaiting installation in my sim but I doubt that I'll be happy with it unless I enlist my wife again to darken my sim room.
Great in the evenings and night but not so good in the day.

It all has to do with the rated lumens value for the projector. Not every projector is alike as far as brightness and contrast. I would just buy the most affordable short throw projectors and darken the room as needed. The price range for projectors is all over the place. I'd just get the most affordable that match the TH2G resolution options. Also take into account the cost of bulb replacements before picking a projector. This'll be where your true hidden costs are with projectors.

If you can keep sunlight from shining directly on any part of the room, you can probably find ways to make it work. I cover my windows with dark curtains, which helps a lot.

I once lived in an apartment where I covered the window panes with tinfoil. I am quite sure the apartment manager thought I was a nut.
