Hi Guys,

I have seen a mention by a new member today about the BAe146.

I dont know much about the availability of software, panels, hardware etc So i thought i would start this thread and share ones knowledge to see if there is in fact any available.

I hear alot from my colleagues who comment they would love to build a BAe 146 cockpit but dont know if there is anything available.

If I was going to build one I would build one based on one of the last produces "RJX" series, very clean design and many parts used straight of the 737NG.

I have also seen throttle levers on ebay a few times, but very easy to make as they have no reverse thrust :) and the overhead switches ive seen for sale in places like B&Q ( UK version of home depot)

I have a few hi res pics if you are interested

The worlds best way to turn J1a into Noise.. I mean really, why put 4 small engines on a small airplane when 2 bigger ones would have worked, and been much quieter and cheaper LOL..

An airline pilot friend who flew them told me the story of a '146 that crashed after a dive at over twice VNE. Apparently every single piece of the aircraft was still attached at point of impact.....so they do have their good points

If it wasn't so clearly a '146, I'd swear someone filmed my last landing!!! :(

It is a sweet looking cockpit though. I didn't realise the 146 was updated to such a modern standard. Could be a good alternative RJ platform particularly given the 737 similarity.

Ken.

PS. Thanks for the great detailed photos Phil.

You should see a 727 landing on that strip. :D

actually the 4 small engines are meant to minimize the noise. The 146 has been marketed as whisperjet.

Its perfect for london city because of its short take offs and landings

Your right stef its a very quiet airplane. Another reason is the fact the aircraft is designed to use very short strips and at extreme altitudes. Thus 4 smaller engines are used.

Also they are smaller as the aircraft was designed to have plenty of room around it due to the fact it operates in places that are not nessecerily big airports but more like gravel and loose surface. It operated in mountains etc.

Its a great design!! why... because its British :-)

Ug...too rich for mine, big fast aeroplanes and little windy runways don't mix!

I sympathise with that pilot though, just the other day I had to stick the nose down and go full throttle at 100 feet on short final due to windshear.
Bunny hopped over the road that runs across the aerodrome boundry! That cow will never feed near THAT fence again.

Unfortunately the 146 has a mixed reputation here as they are prone to bad fuel fumes in the cockpit. I know of a couple of pilots having to retire due to poor health reputedly due to years of flying in this bird. It was also the subject of an investigative television documentary on the fact.

No such problems in the sim however (unless of course you want ultra-realism then I suppose a drum of A1 in the back maybe called for!!)

I've always had a soft spot for that aircraft. What a cool sim to build.
