Hi guys..

Before placing an order for additional master cards. I thought i would check with folks who are using more than 2 MC's on one USB.. I think i read somewhere that there could be issues running more than 2 cards on a USB expansion even though its designed to drive 4. is this true? If so what sort of problem is it? and more importantly whats the work around.. Any quick thoughts would be greatly appreciated.. As i need to order these pretty quick before the currency rate falls down even further.

Thanks David,

That's one very interesting post.. Thank you so much.. Unsure if there is any other issues that are likely to be encountered.. Not sure if there have been any developments within the design of the MC since that post. I personally don't have this problem as im running two MC's already.. Just remember reading somewhere over here about folks having a slight hiccup when they use 3 or four cards on 1 USB.. but i have searched endlessly and still cant find it :(.. will keep up the search but also appreciate any more help from folks around here..

I you sure that this is not the post you seek? This refers to the problem you mention of when there are more than two mastercards are connected, SIOC incorrectly reads the initial values of some inputs. This has also been raised on the OC site. Pending a new release of SIOC, which we expect to solve the problen, there a a number of fixes eg reset the mastercards or give an initial value to the affected inputs.

G'day Brad,

Do you run 4 MC's on each USB expansion card though?

Thanks david for your comment.. it gives a little more clarity to what i understood from the previous link.

Well I guess now i will have to see for myself what happens when I set them up. Off to OC shop

I currently run 3 MC's off each of my two USB Exp. I have run 4 without any issues.

I currently run 1 USB with 3 MC's, 1 USB with 2 MCs, 1 USB outputs card, and 1 MCP737NG, without any issues...(for years).

I always buy already assembled and tested MC's ...

Hi David,

That thread is about a problem with some inputs (1 out of a group of nine, if i'm right) not showing the correct value of the position of the connected switch at start-up of the SIOC system. After that, in normal operation, all inputs work fine.

So it is more a minor issue, that of course needs to be solved, but no big deal.

From my recollection it is not related to 3 or 4 cards attached, at my place it also occurred with 2 cards attached to 1 USB exp card.

Nico

Hi Nico

Just trying to help answer Shafian`s enquiry. Some people it would appear are getting an inconsistent initial reading of inputs dependent on the number of mastercards connected. Whether it is a big issue or not probably depends on how you have wired up. :p

I suppose to be aware of the problem is half the solution!

Whether it is a big issue or not probably depends on how you have wired up.

Indeed, a solution might be to rewire the affected switch such that the initial position, at start up in your hardware sim, is reflected with a 0 input and not a 1. Or to take a spare input instead, if possible.

Indeed :-)
