I need a camera man for this stuff.
Hope it has in it what you needed to know. This was taken from the ILS intercept. It was too long from any farther away.

Thanks Mike.
That was great. I take it you were hand flying and recording at the same time.... very commendable if you were.
Glad you got the ADF going again.
Now to go do some flying in Austria. :D

Henry

No way Henry!
It requires too much concentration to hand fly that approach and hold a camera at the same time.
That was just a video of the replay.
Don't go below 3700' before making the 180, but in the turn start dumping altitude or you'll end up high like I was.
Have fun! Innsbruck is my Favorite. :D

Hi Mike,
as a VACC Austria ATC controller I would like to congratulate you for successfully performing this tricky approach and to receive hereby your LOWI rating ;)
If anyone else is interested, here's a link to the charts:
http://www.vacc-austria.org/?page=content/chartlist&icao=LOWI
A short description of the situation: Innsbruck LOWI is situated in a narrow valley and the approach leads via an LOC DME approach to the runway, there is no ILS available because the runway course (260°) and the localizer course (256°) show an offset.
Clearance limit is AB NDB - from then on the landing has to be a visual one:
For runway 26 straight ahead, for runway 08 - as flown by Captain Mike - brakeoff at AB NDB with heading 230° direct INN NDB. After INN fly heading 265° and keep an altitude of 3700ft ... and disable your GPWS ... ;)
Don't worry, if you loose your left winglet in the nearby trees :)
Keep the downwind track as long as practicable and ensure that you have established full landing configuration. If you see a church in the middle of Axams village - or at least before you crash into the mountains in front of you - start your right turn heading 080° - in the turn you have to loose altitude, because the airport elevation is 1.100ft. Runway in sight - cleared to land!
