rotary encorder and switch?

hello all just whant to ask how with one rotary encorder with out push button can i work radios high and low freqence???? do i put 2 encorders or an exernal push button?and i saw a 12 pole rotary switch used as a encorder has eny done this??and if so dose it work ok :D

I have seen this done on the OpenCockpits stuff, there are some examples in the downloads section there I think. Also, kiek (Nico) has some code on his site that shows how to do some of these things. I need to do it myself soon.
