Hi I am a South African who wanted to fly airoplanes when I was a kid,Due to varous factors never did, Twenty years back found flight sims, I know live my dreams on a steam powered P2 loaded with fs98 and a P4 with fs2002. Cant afford fsx and some A*&$#^! stole my fs2004 disc 4. I enjoy doing repaints and have my own fleet of fictional SAA liveried A380's, one of which I have succesfully looped, would love to try it with a real one, so yes I may be nuts but hey normal is boring.8)
PS Like Garfield Im a heavyweight but I believe Im thin:mrgreen:

LOL, Great stuff Thindog.. You know what.. As long as you have a flight simulator that you can fly, it doesn't matter what version it is. Besides, nobody here will judge anyone.
We are a friendly community with lots of fun people, and always Flight Sim and Aviation discussions go on.
Welcome to MyCockpit.. Welcome to what could end up being your next addiction.

Welcome to the site!
Which aircraft are you building or planning a build for?

I have not yet mastered any aircraft builders I am currently trying to build fs2002 Durban Harbour scenery. So far I have fictitious airport FXXX populated with AI ships so that on finals I have a more realistic setting. I now have to learn about scenery designers so that I can make jettys, wharehouses etc.
I am trying to find someone who can help me with an interesting consept, about a year ago I read an artic. on the A380, the writer was convinced the wing geometry of this plane was intended for an even larger aircraft. I was wondering about the possability of building a 'stretch' A380 because to me the wings do indeed look oversized. I would love to fly one, I suffer from a fettish for big planes, my wife says "Lucky for her my taste extends to women" :p
I am working on a Shoestring budget cockpit and will be looking for assistance in old tech because kit is so expensive this side of the pond I am going to be forced to goose the P2 to its limits, I cant touch the P4 its shared by my family, so be ready for lots of questions about outdated kit and dusty old files.

Thindog,
One suggestion to help with your curiosity regarding modifications to a A380. if you purchase XPlane 9.22 you will be able to use a program called plane builder and actually modify an A380 and then fly it and it will act and react exactly or close to the real one. Just a thought.

Warvet thanks for the suggestion, my problem is I am on a real shoestring I am medicaly boarded and hold down a very low paying job my wife is on the long road to recovery from meningitis. It will be a long long time before I can lay out the kind of money it is neccesary to fork out in this country for that set up. South African rand price is R599.99 I earn R300.00 per week The exchange rate is about R7.00 to the $

Hi Smutley so cool to bump into you here:D For me Flightsim.com is like a pub, you go there meet buddies make freinds swap war stories and have a good time, but MyCockpit is like the hobby shop I come here to meet buddies make freinds swap war stories and learn how to build cockpits, there is a subtle differance good to know someone else from somewhere else comes to the same hobby shop as i do:D
