Greetings, Jedi Masters of the Cockpit...
I've been reading and very rarely contributing (only 'rarely' as I don't know a lot!) to the forum for months now, and been looking forward to writing an entry in this part of the forum for ages! Okay, so it's not all shiny with buttons etc - but in the last couple of days I've slaved in the boiling sun and made some tangible progress at last! I'm really chuffed. I'm no carpenter, much less an engineer so before you all have a giggle at my efforts, bear in mind that this is like a caveman trying to build a space shuttle. Almost literally!

Below is a view of the seats (now finished) and the forward view of the monitor stands. It does really dominate my living room! Might need to move the TV (and everything else) upstairs...

Side view of the same (the seats are from the rear of a Citroen C2):

Captain's side PFD & ND stand taking shape. I can start to see a lot better how this is going to look when complete. Hoping to finish this today, but I've almost exhausted this month's MDF budget!

The sidestick in place. I'm very pleased with this, it feels great and comes to hand just right.

Another view of the sidestick:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Obviously this will all get painted and more thoroughly finished - there are some rough corners here and there. Is it wrong for me to be feeling just a little bit smug right now?!? In other news, I finally have my new computer on order, should be here in a couple of weeks. Then I can start plugging it all in. Hoping to have a test flight before end of July.

This part of the hobby has been every bit as satisfying as pulling off a -50 fpm landing!

Nigel.

PS: That last part was a lie - I've never landed so smoothly in my life!

Hi Matt,
I hope they were good memories, right? Or am I heading for disaster?! Don't think this will ever look like your cockpit, but it certainly gives me a lot to aspire to!

Nigel.
