Hello,

first, sorry my English.

For a time I am selecting an aircraft model to my simulator.
I wanted a small (relative), easy to build (relative too), partial glass
cockpit, low weight, turbofan, column yokes, and a bit more.

The Cessna Citation Jet like to full fit near all the conditions, I am really
happy with it.

But its getting a bit difficult to find shell and cockpit dimensions. External
shell dimensions is a bit more easy as I get some scaled drawings. If some
one could help-me I really appreciate.

Thanks,
Diego

Thanks Adino,

reading your site I find this:

Here is where all started...a special thanks goes to Angus Wighton for being so generous in sharing some basic citation measurements I could you as base for this project. The measurements below have been taken out of a citation III cockpit so far I remember. I modified them slightly to better fit the Excel version.

Really from a Citation III, so nice :)
Nice sim you are building.

A need some panels from the left of the cockpit, the manual I have dont say so much, "only" about the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 and radios, and a bit more things. Iam thinking from where I could get a glass cockpit for the Collins Pro Line 21. I could develop it myself, but I need more information,
preferable a manual.

Thanks,
Diego

Look if you can find some here...this site have help with most stuff and info..
http://www.smartcockpit.com/plane/cessna/CITATION-JET-SERIES/
but you will have to do some math work using references, like the measurements of the PFD and some instruments you will be able to figure out the dimension of most of the MIP and parts....

Look at this E-library also they have extensive documentation about citations you can search for doc as well(believe me u will find really great stuff here!)
http://www.pdfgeni.com/ref/cessna-citation-wiring-diagram-pdf.html

For external gauge programming I found this guy tutorial to be the best so far, you can find a tutorial in his software section and also you can download his gauges with the source code so you have an idea on how to code those (it really helps) Please give him some props for his nice work on this..we need people like him around:D

Bthwy I think they have the Prolins on the make here:

As last resources email me at adino2@hotmail.com..I'm busy but I might reply back with stuff I have of citations in my repository;)

Good luck!!

(For simple questions and help for other users I will answer this last message in the forum)

Thank you for your help, the manuals I have are from http://www.smartcockpit.com/plane/ce...ON-JET-SERIES/ that you cited,
but I cant find other panels like fuel panel, etc. in the these. (not the dimensions but the panel itself, as I dont know the CJ3 so much).

In the past I was building an LJ45 simulator, so I know
much of the LJ45 sites and Tomlin ;), but the panels of the CJ3
are more simple and beautiful, the same for the windshield.

I think that the software you send the link, is not an Pro Line 21, that have
page buttons and labels on the sides. Anyway if the functions are the same
and I can integrate with the aircraft systems, this would not be a problem.

As I'm a programmer too, this is not a problem, but the site could help with
the graphics.

Now I will try the http://www.pdfgeni.com/ref/cessna-ci...agram-pdf.html
link, thanks again and sorry for your time.

Here is my old American Airlines 500 series Procedures trainer that I'm restoring. It was used for initial pilot eval. many years ago. It's wood and fiberglass, 7'7" in length and weighs 750 pounds. This should be less once I remove all the old power supplies...miles of wire and the hundred relays.
I am in the process of recovering the glareshield...side ledges and getting rid of the wood laminate. Still need to find another cover for the co-pilot yoke. The vacuum formed window shrouds have been cleaned up and are now painted.
I'm planning on a glass cockpit Citation hybrid. I have a real C510 Mustang overhead light..air vents...knobs and a new CJ4 throttle quadrant. Haven't taken apart the engine tape gauges to see if they are salvageable and could be interfaced. If not, may just go with the PMRJ gauges. Not Citation like...but appears software options are limited.

My backup plans for my cockpit is a Citation XLS if my Global Express doesn't work out still in the planning stages for both. Here in the states you can get the cockpit section cut off a C500, 525, 550 for around $5,000 from several yards. I have talked to many of them already but I am really looking for a slightly larger, faster aircraft for my cockpit which brought m the XLS/X. I am hoping to have wooden plans drawn up in the near future for the shell kit similar to what has been done for the Lear over at Hangar45. Johm I will have a bunch of questions for you as your cockpit has many similar features. I too almost bid on that sim when I saw it on ebay!

John,
That's just a great shell! you have more than half of the job just done there....Mine is taking ages now as my work is taking all the time..hopefully next year I will be able to resume..but if I was you I will put some efforts in writing the tape engine gauges to keep it real..a Citation without tape-gauges isnot a Citation...just my pov ;-) thx for sharing

I'm in the same situation as you. Have been working on obtaining/replicating individual Citation parts and pieces for years and this shell gave me some hope I'll actually get it finished in my lifetime. My first choice is seeing If can modify the existing gauges to work. You wouldn't think it would be impossible to recreate a set of software based stand alone tape gauges and have also checked out the F100 panel software you have listed on your site.

Flythissim.com has a stand alone C-501 panel for Xplane but believe it's only one monitor and would like to be able to shuffle gauges around behind panel windows on multiple monitors. The Citation has had so many avionics upgrades over the years, you have quite a few options for the panel and it would still be realistic.

I have a real 510 Mustang throttle pedestal and cover/trim wheel/overhead light/knobs/airvents so I haven't ruled out going with that. Just have not found a g1000 interface/software that doesn't cost a fortune.

If you make any progress on your sim, would like to hear about it.
