We could have 3 projectors for the price of one brand...

Do you think 800x480 would look right for a projection view? I would think the loss of detail might ruin it.

I know it lowers the res... but you have to admit, that you could get 3 projectors for roughly $1k

yeah.. but on a TH2G

that would make 800 x 1420

800:1 contrast ratio. OK no night time. Resolution sucks. I've got a 768 X 1024 and am not happy with it.

Sorry, nice thought, but a definite NO GO for me.

800 X 600 resolution is the key. That's pretty bad. 768 X 1024 is the absolute minimum on a 7 foot screen 10 feet from pilot, and then you'll see the pixels.

I have to agree with Matt on this. 1024x768 is the lowest you want to go. It does not matter what the total res is, it is what each projector is capeable of. The pic can not look any better then what the res is for the projector.

Agreed with Matt and Bob. To illustrate, my projector is native 800x600 and will run 1024x768, but it's still only 800x600. I enjoy my sim immensely (and this projector was free!) but when I turn around and look at the 19" CRT monitor behind me at the instructor station, I am amazed at the detail Im losing on this projector. When I buy a projector, Im going for the best resolution I can afford that will work with FS.

(excuse my quick drawing)

I have to agree with the others. 1024x768 is the absolute minimum. I set up my curved visuals with TH2GO and SOL a week ago, using three 1024x768 short throw beamers, and I'm already researching higher resolution models and trying to figure out how much I can get for the EX525STs on Ebay. The resolution isn't terrible, but I expected it to be better at 1024. Can't even imagine 800x600!

I just got an acer pj recently, brand new (bought locally) and not much more expensive than the original link,1024x768 res and widescreen compatible too. I cant say i ever heard of "favi" and with that resolution i would have to say steer clear. I agree 1024x768 is the absolute minimum and even at that i only use it for outside visuals.
Its the same with everything... 1080p hd projectors were mega expensive only 12 months ago, all prices drop eventually.

I have a cheap Chinese projector that looks very very similar to that Favi. Same specs as well. It's not too bad for movies at night with no lights on in the house, but for Flight Sim it is useless. The native resolution is what you must look at, and 800 x 600 is simply no good. Everything looks very "pixelated", all "blocky".

Eddies picture looks sharp because it's condensed to fit your screen, try blowing it up you'll see the change.

I'm not saying Eddies setup is bad, but don't missunderstand what you see. If you want twice the resolution, you're going to pay at least twice that much Eddie paid for.

800 X600 is about equivalent to a 30" tv. Well at least in my opinion, LOL

There is lot's of experience here in projection.

Might be a bit off topic, but has anyone setup a system using 3 projectors with a TH2Go?

This projector is 1024X768, but of course this resolution is the minimum acceptable for external view.
As the external view does not have small gauges, demanding detail, the big view of the enviroment is very good.
