If you are unsure about when the time has come to build your self a simpit. Here comes a hint.
If you, like me, also do this:
It's a sunday morning at zulu time 9:28
1: Make a route from point A to point B, online and print it out.
2: Metar check for the route, and print it out.
3: Make a "walk around check": Oil, tire pressure, brake, lamp glass, air intake, check fuel quality surfaces for birdstrike and so on......
4: Cockpit check.
5: Battery power
6: Check handbrake pulled
7: Pos. lights on
8: Avionics turned on, set the lokal radio frequency.
9: GPS turned on, GPS programming
10: Calculation of fuel consumption and center wieght.
11: Control of fuelgauge.
12: Cabin pressure (blowing steps 1-3)
13: Window heat on
14: Instrument check
15: Start APU
(I have not, however, the APU, so I play the APU sound from a CD )
16: Contacts ground staff over the intercom: Ground Power disconnected
17: Ask for pusback on my hand radio
(my children are now pushing the car out of the driveway)
18: handbrake pulled
19: Strobelight switched on
(hazard warning lights)
20: Starting the engine
21: Engine instruments checked
22: thumbs-up from the ground staff, everything OK
23: APU switched off
(The cd player turned off)
24: Motor heating
25: 3000 RPM motor check / instrument check
26: Checking the funktion of the steering and brakes.
27: Strobe light turns off (hazard warning light)
28: Taxi permission asked on hand radio channel 1
(the wife calls back, "permission given, and remember to buy one liter of milk")
29: The radio is set to TA
(TA -Traffic Announcement)
30: "Taxi" lights switched on
The children jumps into the back seat,
31: Seatbelt and no smoking signs on
And I give a short safety briefing about life jacket, the 4 exits, and prioritize that they must be seated to a full stop and to the engine are turned off.
We are now driving 200 meters down the road, to the baker and get 10 rolls.
Then we check out the items 4-14, 16-26 and 28-29
Follow the GPS back, stop, and then make a push back to the "gate"
30: Secure the vessel.
The zulu time now is 10:33
And ****... the wife is mad
just because I forgot the milk. :(
Well ... we need to do it all over again from point 1 :p
