Autoland query

Hi all

Whilst approaching heathrow, I turned on the Autoloand system and all three computer lights lit, but it skirted past Heathrow and headed off into the wild blue yonder. I am using the VRinsight MCP unit.

Anyone managed to use this facility with success? The correct Nav Frequency was set. I assume that flight director and autothrottle should be on as well as the autopilot?

Flight Director on, Autopilot on, Autothrottle on , Autobrake setting selected, Spoilers Set, and ...APP (Approach)locked in on your MCP. Also I beleive you must intercept the Glide Slope at or under 1600'. When you have Autoland 3 showing above your PFD, it should set itself down.

For dual channel (autoland) you usually need:
Both Command A & B - ON
Both Nav 1 and Nav 2 set to ILS frequency
