My brand new Chinese lathe arrived on Friday the 18th, Merry Christmas Gwyn from Gwyn!!! It's installed and powered up but it's 38C (102F) in the workshop and way too hot to start working. The A340TQ Trim wheels will be the first job.

Westozy, here's my (much smaller) Chinese lathe and it's way too cold here in the UK to be out in the workshop!
What material will you use for your trim wheels?

Very nice, it looks remarkably like the old boxford lathe, Can you get a milling attachement for it, very good for keyways in stainless steel.

Hi Peter,
I buy 12mm thick 'slabs' of PVC cut to 240mm x 240mm. Then cut one into a disc, then two others into rings. Glue them together with Loctite 424 then form the finished shape on the lathe. It takes about 3 hours to make a pair of trim wheels. On my current A340 project I am going to make 3 trim wheels and then use one as a pattern, I'll try to find someone who can cast them in plastic or fibreglass for me!
