Hi,

I know when you quickly go along the edge's
of acrylic with a flame it becomes nice polished.

but when I do that with a normal "camping-gas" burner
a lot of dirt and coal comes with it.

Does anybody know how to make a small torch with a clean flame
to do this kind of things ?

How do the professional machines work ?

one of the small soldering burners that use propane?

i usually buff with a linishing wheel and the cake of soap looking buffing stuff.

Hi guys, I have been doing a fair bit of acrylic polishing lately mainly 10mm thick clear. I draw file the edges and then scrape then with a sharp flat blade from a Stanley trimmer, sand with 400 wet and dry followed by steel wool and car polish. This works really well although a little laborious, a small butane flame improves the finish but can also easily do damage so don't get the acrylic too hot!

PS It's nice to see a mechanical question appear in the MECHANICALforum, I have very little knowledge of electronics but still the questions keep coming!!!
