Hi there,
First post on the forum, Iam a keen simmer have been since 1993 and have now come to the conclusion that i'm ready for the next step. I currently use Saitek yoke and 2 throttle quad's with their rudder and 1 x lcd having done research on sim building I have come to the conclusion that:
A: I am going for a Boeing  (either 737NG or 777 - I ideally wanted a 747 sim but i think the space is the issue)
B: Will start with MIP and the displays via PM and then shell
Now this is where my first headache comes to play. My experience with knocking 2 pieces of wood together is pretty dire (but i'll learn) so in order to get my pit as real as it gets I am going to purchase the MIP once I have done all my homework for the project from FDS. The dimensions taken for the 737NG from 737ng.co.uk are as follows:
2.43m wide
1.95m high
2.00m length
The only room i have to build this is
2.7 wide
2.5 length
2.4 high
tight fit?
how do you realistically go about calculating if the shell will fit into a room like this as i understand the figures look ok but it all the extras that will go outside that concern me.
would you consider making a mock up out of cardboard.
or re-creating 3d on the pc
what are other peoples first hand experiences of this?
i just dont want to start building around the mip only to realise bugger it aint gonna fit
Many many thanks in advance
James
