During the last week I have painted the MIP a second time, then it was dismounted and moved to its final location and there mounted again.
Today the PCs were attached, captain side LEDs and switches were wired and the long waited first test flight @KBFI was successfully accomplished.
Here a phot from the nice MIP.

During the next weeks we want to mount the overhead. If someone has good ideas or drawings how to mount an overhead against a wall, please share it with me.

Thanks,
Markus

Excellent work mate!

Can I just ask what size are your monitors? and how have you grouped all 3 monitors together, an earlier update of yours shows just 2 monitors....

Did you step up from a dualhead2go to a triplehead2go, or are the visuals setup another way!

I enjoy watching your progress very good work you are producing!

Hello Alex,

all 3 monitors are 19" ratio: 4:3 TFT Monitors.

No, I don't use the Matrox product. I use an PCIe ATI Radeon Graphiccard.

http://737cockpit.at.tf/2010/05/27/changed-graphic-card/

The technology is called: EyeFinity (http://www.amd.com/US/PRODUCTS/TECHNOLOGIES/AMD-EYEFINITY-TECHNOLOGY/Pages/eyefinity.aspx)
It's working great.

I want to give you a short update on my cockpit project.
During the last weeks we have built a gear leveler.

http://gallery.therese-markus.net/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=149323&g2_serialNumber=1

The construction consists of 2 pipes running the small one into the bigger one and a pressure spring. So you need to pull the leveler towards you and the spring will pull it back to the default position.
I have also made a short video, you can watch it here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DL3uCeZNx3E

During the next week the pedestal area will be built. Therefore the following modules will be built in:
1x NAV
1x COM
1x Weather Radar
1x Cargo Fire Panel
1x Fire Panel
1x XPDR
2x Audio Panel

The missing modules will be covered with removeable plates, so once I got them I only need to remove the plate and put the module in.

Further I have changed the APU switch to a "real" one in his function:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEot7AgV3Os

And the SIOC code for the LEDs to use with SimAvionics was optimized.
Last but not least also the Marker sound was moddeled in SIOC to be played via another PC Soundcard:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XM8g8fXISE

As soon I have some photos from the pedestal I will update this post again.

Best regards,
Markus

Another update to be presented to you:

http://gallery.therese-markus.net/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=149639&g2_serialNumber=1

My nearly finished pedestal.
I did a short test with the OC modules only. All other modules have to be wired in the following weeks.
Updates will be posted on my blog.

Another Update at end of the month :)

Marker Sounds can be enabled / disabled from the Pedestal now from both sides (Captain and FO)
ATC can be rerouted to external speakers, if needed or only on the Headset (both sides)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HV5Tms4SLNk

Also magnetical decals were created to get changeable registrations in the cockpit.
http://gallery.therese-markus.net/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=149946&g2_serialNumber=1

The Captain side will be mounted soon.
FO side:

Hi Marcus. Excellent update.

Can you please tell me what switches you are using on the audio control panel (for turning on and off the speaker). Do they also control the volume if rotated?

Thanks.

Nice feature. How exactly have you done this? Is the turn-button actually only a pushbutton? ... and how du you actually route the sound?
My audiopanel just sit there and look nice but no actual function... yet!

Hello Tom,

sorry, I can't. I have bought the panel from a private person. Those are original Boeing switches and where used in a B727 (according to the seller).
I opened a topic in the forum when I received the buttons (click here (http://www.mycockpit.org/forums/showthread.php/22090-Whats-this-for-a-knob-switch?highlight=))Someone posted a link to the technical documents. Maybe you can find the switch to get it over the internet.
Sorry that I can't give me details about it. You will also find 2 pictures in the bottom of the post linked above.

You can turn it also, its a potentiometer, but I didn't use the function right now. Maybe in the future. I haven't found an interface software where I can control the volume of the soundcard via a potentiometer.

The switching itself was tested with the software virtual audio cable (http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.htm#download) and FSUIPC module.
This one I have tried with FSUIPC and it worked:

I have added the following lines to my wideclient.ini

RunKey5=path to the program to be executed on push of the button
RunKey6=path to the program to be executed on release of the button
KeySend5=Runkey5
KeySend6=Runkey6

In FSUIPC the option “Keysend 1-255 (WideFS)” was enabled to parameter 5 when pushed and 6 when released.

I created 2 videos for you:

and from the inflight system:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xL-jgOihqAk

I have flown a lot made some tweaks in the software as well changed the Hardware from 2 machines to faster ones.

Hi Markus,

I'm interested how you use the switch on the ACP. Do you have a USB headset, and a sound card on your main PC, and switch from both thru the Virtual Cable?

Can you explain me exacly how cai I do the same?

Many thanks
Arnaldo Vacca

markusr

Hello Arnaldo,

yes correct. I use an USB Headset and another USB Soundcard for Speaker output.
VirtualCable is switching the output sources via an .cmd file triggered by WideClient.

Markus

Hi guys,

I can present 3 smaller an 1 bigger update to you today.

First: I switched my software from SimAvionics to Prosim

Second: I got an USB Thermal printer functional with my Homecockpit.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2I1vIcqc4DQ
As the scripts are not fully implemented in Prosim at this time the printing direct from Prosim CDU does not work.

Third: Weather Radar.
I have now my weather radar connected up to Prosim and with the latest release of Prosim Marty has integrated also the radar into the suite

Fourth - the biggest improvement: My Throttle.
I bought a throttle from a private guy and had at first made some maintenance - as some mechanical parts where wrong built in.
http://gallery.therese-markus.net/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=154311&g2_serialNumber=2

We also motorized the throttle with Opencockpits USB Servo Card and Servos.

http://gallery.therese-markus.net/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=154337&g2_serialNumber=1

http://gallery.therese-markus.net/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=154353&g2_serialNumber=1

You can see the throttle is a short presentation video below.

Hello again,

wow, 3 years and no update from my side... But, we have built our new home and I have started last year in October with rebuilding my homecockpit.

10155
As I have now a complete room for this, I started also with the shell around.

10154

The Overhead was completed as well with the after overhead panel.

10153
Also the interiour was started. I have built one seat (the second is current work in progress) and the captains sidewall. F/O sidewall will be started in 2 weeks.
10151

10152
And some other small things were added (eg. F/O Six Pack and the Capt and F/O DU switches).

10156

I will continue to add updates here again :-)

Best regards,
Markus
