Intel or AMD

Hi guys

Im building a new computer and was wondering if anyone can tell me
which cpu is better to fsx with sqwartbox.

Currently my Video card is HIS radeon HD 5750 1 gig.

Are you going to run FS9 or FSX? AND, how many addons, complex scenery, aircraft and complexity come into play. With FS9 any CPU will be plenty. With FSX, you can't have enough. However, an Intell, i7 or AMD 965 will both give you plenty of horsepower.

I believe that if money is a consideration the new AMD 965 is a bargain. If you have the money go for a i7 930 and overclock it to 3.5 GHz or better and FSX will sing.

I buy a new pc and it has Intel I7 processor. it give me amazing performance. but i dont know what is FS9 and FSX. can any one tell me.

FS9 is Flight Simulator 2004. It is often called that to compare it with FSX or Flight Simulator X (Ten). FSX is the last flight simulator made by Microsoft.

If you get FSX do buy the "Gold" version. It comes with Acceleration which provides the Service Pack 2 (SP2). SP2 makes FSX run faster and provides a better experience.

I just recently upgraded my FSX machine from a Core2Duo to a Core i7 920 processor and the performance increase was amazing. I went from 20-30 frames a second to close to 50-100 frames a second with my setup. I have an NVidia 8800GTX graphics card and it is apparent that my old Core2Duo processor was holding the graphics card back totally!!

If you plz say the whole configuration so that it can be easy to suggest you that cpu is best for you ?

I think both CPU are best. But from the my point of view Intel CPU is best for any Computer because it has good speed. It is so popular in the world. Its selling is more than AMD.

Intel is highly recommended for casual use and for those who are more into multi using for programs like net surfing,listening music, word processor all at same time. It is the same with microprocessors. The only reason AMD's processors exist is because IBM did not want to be dependent on Intel and Intel wanted IBM as a customer.

Intel and AMD are again out of the race. This time the PC is not just about making fast but more comfortable to use versatile.Intel excessive use programs like surfing the net for the multi-more, the music is recommended for listening , the word processor in the same time.

Stepbk, your question is eternal :p and with respect you need to plum for one or the other and not over analyse this.

What's your status of your wallet? That'll be your first guide.

Remeber Intel is more expensive [and motherboads also are a little more expensive if i7 CPUs are being considered] but is also faster and offers a little more overclocking headroom.

That said, AMD 955/965 will deliver also and at a lower overall cost without drastically slower overall performance.

Given your graphic card choice, AMD might be your default direction if you subscribe to the AMD/ATI vs Intel/nVidia arguments.

Bottom line, both CPUs will work [assuming a compatible setup]

I suspect futureproofing may be a motivation for your question. It is for me. [To the extent that future proofing is indeed possible :?:]

Today, futureproofing pushes me a little in the Intel direction because I think Intel has the ball in it's court presently! Maybe the AMD 6 core CPU will wipe up. Who knows. I think Intel may have momentum at the moment but be careful not to get into this arena too much as it serves to confuse and cloud judgement more than help.

What are your performance expectations and budget. Stick to these guidence parameters and identify both the AMD and Intel offerings that come in as acceptable.

Then choose!

There's plently of evidence that FSX SP2 does indeed utilise multicore CPU capabilities very well now [it's quite an old game remember developmentally speaking]
