Hi, I was just wondering... there are essentially 2 types of displays:

and

i.e. there ones which are black and ones which have a light grey background. The question is, does this background colour make much of a difference in terms of trying to get an authentic looking result?

Which of the two would you go for? The black, the grey or it doesn't matter? And how would you go about creating a black looking background during the day and that reddish one with back lighting?

For the red, you place a red transparent film (found in most art stores and online) between the faces of the 7SDs and the panel itself. I did this for my first MCP, made from the OpenCockpits kit. Hence if you choose this road, it doesn't matter too much whether you buy 7SDs with grey or black background. This also helps create a more uniform look and nicely conceals any spaces between the 7SDs and panel openings. Either way, just make sure your 7SDs are snug against each other and aligned nicely, so as to eliminate any potential light bleeds or dark openings.
