g'day gentlemen........
i've just finished hooking up a colleagues overhead using a Phidgets LED64 ADV card. excellent piece of kit.
so now i am planning a little expansion to my own overhead annunciators using a similar technique.
the issue i have is trying to hide 128 wires out of sight of the backlighting. so i was wondering if the LED64 ADV has a regime of common anode or common cathode to each LED which is going to do away with half of the wires inside the overhead panel.
i've read the manual but it is not clear. there is a reference to commonality in the section about multiplexing led's, but that doesn't tell me exactly what i want to know. so i was wondering if any of you chaps can put me straight before i go doing things i shouldn't be with this board.
thanks in advance and take care.....

Been kind of confused on this myself,,maybe if this thread is moved to the Phidgets section you will get a response.

Hi,

In the doc, you can read :

The 1031 does not use multiplexing. All 64 anodes are connected to the same power supply and the cathode of each LED connection is attached to an individual constant current sink. Also, the LEDs are not controlled by PWM - they are driven at a constant current. This reduces the electrical noise in installations.

Practicaly, I use only one red wire connected to the anode of every leds.

Kind regards
