First of all I apologise in advance if I've missed this topic somewhere else on the forums. I've searched but so far had no luck in finding an answer!

I use the Flight 1 Cessna 172 as the basis for my build. I don't really use all that much of the original in terms of gauges etc but its taken time to tweek everything to get it to where I'm happy and I'd like to continue to use it!

The Problem:

The issue I have is that I can't get rid of the VC. There is no interior model in the model folder and there for no interior to comment out in the .cfg. When I eventually get a second PC for my front left and right monitors this wont be an issue as I'll be using the blank aircraft in wideview. For now though, I really want rid of the VC for when I change view direction.

Any help is, as always, gratefully recieved!

Regards

Alex

I am thick when it comes to the inner workings of FSX but I remember reading somewhere that you can change the views in camera.cfg will this work for the VC as well?
I may be barking up the wrong tree.....

Hi,
We've tried the same thing with F1 C172. It's not possible to make all VC parts invisible. Our goal was to remove all other VC parts except the propeller.
It is possible to make some parts of VC invisible by painting the bitmaps over with alpha black color = invisible. The result is not completely invisible model. Some parts remain shiny aluminum look.

We use modified default C172 VC with prop only: (3 short throw video projectors, one ultra wide, fully back zoomed front outside view, Nthusim).

If I remember right, the F1 virtual cockpit is at the same time part of the actual outside model.

Thanks for your reply! Are you using FS2004? I'm running FSX, is it possible to ammend the default 172 VC in a similar fashion?

Sure. I don't see any reason why it is not possible. Just send me email:robots[at]jippii.fi.

I can then send you the modified virtual cockpit files.
