Hello Marc,

I’m using this controller-kit from HobbyCNC.com (http://www.hobbycnc.com/products/hobbycnc-pro-chopper-driver-board-kits/)and added two 305oz steppers
(#23-305-DS8A) (http://www.hobbycnc.com/products/stepper-motors/) from the same company as my X and Y steppers. For Z axis
you can use a smaller stepper. I have a few on the shelf from some old printers.
The Power Supply you can build yourself if you like.

About the controller; it’s smart to pick one with four channels – X, Y & Z plus
one extra (A) for running an index wheel (makes the difference in many
operations like knobs, round and none planar items) or as a channel in
spare if one blows :-(

Everything performs very well for normal “cockpit” operations.

Take your time and plan well. I used Cnczone (http://www.cnczone.com) a lot during the planning / building phase.
Now I'm visiting more often sites like: Cnc-Plus (http://www.cnc-plus.de/)and Sorotec (http://www.sorotec.de/) .

Anyway - good luck with your CNC project – you’ll never regret :-)
and ask questions & search the forum. There are many CNC owners
in here and a lot of experience - some have build their own,
others running ready made units.

Bottom line is your own ability & resources and of course the bank account ;-)
