Hi
In the early 80s i had a go on the JAGUAR simulator at raf lossiemouth when i was in the airforce.
The seat of the sim had an air bladder that inflated when advancing along the runway which gave you
the sensation of being pushed into the seat which worked really well-
over the last few days i have been looking into how to get motion in the home built sim and i think
i have came up with the solution as following-
THE RECLINING CHAIR
i was sitting in a reclining chair the other day you know the one that has a flap at the lower front
and noticed that when the flap moves out the back of the seat slides down which gives you the sensation of
sinking down and when you move the flap in and out you get the sensation of lifting and sinking
now i thought if the flap was removed and a rod connected to the lower part of the control columb
when you move the control columb back :Dyou move up and when you push away you get the feeling of moving down
the seat i was sitting in was rather wide but you can purchase narrow ones on ebay the leather office type that functions the same way
another thing there is hardly any force needed to move the seat as the body is positioned in away that the center of gravity is at the mid point
if anyone has a recliner try it by moving the flap in and out with your foot while sitting and you can see what i mean

hope this is helpful

I have been thinking about this as well, after I noticed how pilots shake during take off and landing. Suppose you make something that is in between a 'butt kicker' and a motion platform. It doesn't move the whole cockpit but only your seat. The bladder is ingenious!

yes its really playing the part of motion ,it fools the brain into thinking you are very slightly rising or sinkiing -
also the more this is done especially on final approach where you are pushing and pulling on the control
columb for lining up on the runway it comes into great effect

just to add that i will be testing this out along with the air bladders one on the back of the seat and one on the seat pan
the one on the back will be connected to the throttle so when you advance the power levers and start to roll down the runway the bladder inflates to give the sensation of being pushed into the seat
the seat pan bladder will be connected to the pot on the control columb for pitch
when you pull back the control columb the seat pan bladder inflates as if you are being pushed into the seat and when you push away the seat pan bladder deflates
all that is needed is a power source ,air pump and bladders
this will give a totally new feel to a fixed platform sim

Sounds kind of like this, without the air bladders of course...

hi infinity
thanks for your youtube video but its a different sensation
try thinking of it this way -looking at the seat in a side view the video that you attached shows a seat
pivoting forward and back and side to side (which pivots at the center)
my idea is sinking down and up the head doesnt move forward and back
