Hi
In the early 80s i had a go on the JAGUAR simulator at raf lossiemouth when i was in the airforce.
The seat of the sim had an air bladder that inflated when advancing along the runway which gave you
the sensation of being pushed into the seat which worked really well-
over the last few days i have been looking into how to get motion in the home built sim and i think
i have came up with the solution as following-
THE RECLINING CHAIR
i was sitting in a reclining chair the other day you know the one that has a flap at the lower front
and noticed that when the flap moves out the back of the seat slides down which gives you the sensation of
sinking down and when you move the flap in and out you get the sensation of lifting and sinking
now i thought if the flap was removed and a rod connected to the lower part of the control columb
when you move the control columb back :Dyou move up and when you push away you get the feeling of moving down
the seat i was sitting in was rather wide but you can purchase narrow ones on ebay the leather office type that functions the same way
another thing there is hardly any force needed to move the seat as the body is positioned in away that the center of gravity is at the mid point
if anyone has a recliner try it by moving the flap in and out with your foot while sitting and you can see what i mean
hope this is helpful
regards
