Hans, I don't know what might be best for you, but for me my first board was a Leo Bodnar 36x board which is only "in", hooks up to USB and has been trouble free. The second board I received was a Pokeys56E (ethernet) board and it is "in/Out" and I think I should have preferred the usb model. Dealing with networking/security software can be troublesome. In all fairness my son's 56E board is working fine using the FSSymphony freeware whereas I cannot get mine to work properly. The company is trying to help me now, the outcome is yet to be seen. Otherwise I like the Pokey idea and think it is a good start. Hope that helps you.
