Hi guys,

I will be building the room for my flight sim soon (finishing my basement) and been looking at different dimensions for it. I'm building a full size 737 cockpit and would like a curved screen (225 degree FOV). I have seen this achieved on the web whiles I was doing my research but would like some advice on how to go about it.

I figured a 12 FT diameter half circle (flat surface) for the screen receiving an image from 3 short throw projectors (ceiling mounted) using a TH2GO. I know there are different softwares out there for unwarping the output but I have no idea where to start. Any input from you guys with experience would be greatly appreciated.

The questions I have at the moment are:

1. How high off the ground would the screen have to be?
2. How tall would the screen have to be to not see the edges from my seat?

I'm currently working on the MIP and will be starting the cockpit interior after I'm done with that stage.

Thanks
Chris

You will need a screen about 8'x40' curved and you can use Fly Elise Immersive Display Lite 2 or NTHUSIM warping software easy with the TH2GO.

To answer your questions depends on your seat height and your eye point. Search the web for Ivar Hestnes over at www.flightdecksolutions.com and you will find a lot of detail of how most of us followed his lead...

Great work here. No correction software required!!! But it's not a curved screen.

so your circle for screen will be 12FT wide?

Yes, that's right. According to the cockpit width, this would leave 2FT in front of the shell and 2FT on each side where the shell is the widest.

Hi guys,,
A small update on this thread....
I contacted Ivar (what agreat guy!) and he gave me a full tutorial on the setup of his 225 FOV setup. I will be matching everything in his tutorial. This is great news because the room does not need to be as big as I thought. I'm a happy camper!

screen radius will be 2.35 meters (7.71FT) Makes alot more sense LOL

Thanks again!

Hi - I am also working on my curved screen projection system with 3 projectors. I was going to do it as 180 until I saw your post about 225 degrees. Will you please share Ivan's tutorial on setting up the screens?
Thanks!
