I've been building a generic home cockpit in my attic for a few weeks now, and recording my progress in a blog.

I like your idea of using PVC. How do you get such straight cuts? My hand sawing skills are dodgy at best.

My other hobby is machining so I have a fairly well equipped shop. I used a vertical bandsaw to cut the PVC pipe. You might want to look into buying a mitre box for you hand saw, there not all that expensive and for small parts it would ensure a straight cut.

Edit: if you buy PVC board you can score that with a carpet knife and a straight edge, it's easy to cut just make multiple passes and don't try and cut to deep on each pass. The first cut is the most important, the blade pretty much follows that line with each subsiquent pass.

Yeah, I have a mitre box so small parts should be fine, it's the larger pieces of hardboard I'm having trouble with.

The idea of scoring the PVC multiple times really appeals.

I'm new to this board (first post) and the complete SIM thing. Mind you that will change in time with luck...

Just wanted to comment that I saw your blog post about doing a flight from Yellowknife to Hay River NWT via Buffalo. Though it was interesting as I have flown that route myself hundreds of times for real as I lived in HY for 20+ years. Joe and I go back many years and have spent many wonderful evenings with him.

How much do the Sched trips cost? I guess they can't be too expensive or people wouldn't take them, and I get the impression that Joe does it more to provide a valuable service than to turn a huge profit.
