There's been a long and interesting conversation how it would be possible to create somekind of ambient lightning inside the cockpit. The problem remains same with the home cockpits and commercial products. During daytime the lightning inside the cockpit is too dark compared to real life. This is definitely a solution worth of investigating:

In our cessna-sim, www.lentosimulaattori.com (http://www.lentosimulaattori.com) we will replace the sky view windows with a semi-clear polycarbonate plastic, then add the ambient led unit. This way you could possibly get some very nice results:
