Default gauges for cockpit panels

Hi!

Got this ongoing project, but having some difficulties to solve how im gonna drag gauges around on a seperate monitor.

The idea is a typical "low-coast" standard, where ive got a monitor in the back, and a plate in front where the gauge size has been cut out.

I know FS panel studio is used by many, but there should be some other soloutions? I need to regulate the size on the gauges, and be able to drag them around. Also that they will stay there next time i start tim simulator :)

You can set the sizes of the gauges ad their position in a particular "window" by editing the file "panel.cfg" for whichever aircraft you are using. You can find this file in each of the folders for all of the aircraft in FS for example in FSX (WIn7) the folders can be found in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\B737_800\panel/panel.cfg for the b737-800

Fisrt MAKE A BAcKUP of this file before you edit it!
You can edit the file using any plain text editor.

this gives the name of the window, which bitmap is used as a background, size of window, and a list of the gauges displayed in that window with the relative position of the gauge in X,Y co-ordinates. Move the gauge by changing the X,Y co-ords for each and when you run that plane in FS, undock the window, drag to the relevant monitor, drag the window corners to the size of your monitor. Keep adjusting till you get the right position then save that flight. This is only a starter but experiment with it and you'll soon get the feel for it.

There's a LOT of trial and error. I eventually just ended up getting FSPS to edit my panels. If you want to have your gauges in the same place every time, just save the flight, reopen it, save it in other airports and different weather settings whenever you can. Eventually you'll have tons of flights to choose from.

The problem I found with FSPS is that not all add on aircraft likes it and problems come like you I am trying to go low coast but found that an exturnal software would be better as it less on your system. Although I have not found the perfect gauge software that works with old gauges and new ones for 737 I find better and easy with exturnal gauges.

FSPS is designed not to edit write protected gauges. When you manual edit with write protected gauges, the game crashes.
