Hi all!
Here are some updated pictures of my small jet simulator as of 8-27-13. I have completed the simulator room by enclosing it in black curtains so the sim experience is without any peripheral distractions. Enjoy the photos!

That's an excellent little cockpit! Great job!
Care to post details on how you built the HUD?

G,
Here's the final configuration of my HUD system after many tests (diagram below). The chain of components is 1. LCD projector (HUD image source), 2. Rear-screen projection material (adhered to a glass pane), 3. 45° front-surface mirror, 4. 1.75X convex lens (Collimator), 5. HUD glass (teleprompter glass). If you need source info for materials or materials dimensions let me know. I've added a few more pics as well for you.

Geremy,
I am honored! As a new member I appreciate input from all. Would you know someone I could get into contact with to help reroute HUD graphics in X-Plane? Probably some Java work. The XHSI guys recommended adding to their code.
Thanks.

Hey Justin,
Here are a few pictures and a diagram of my HUD construction. If you want to know where to get any of the components I will be happy to direct you.
Dan.
PS- it would be easier to communicate via email so you can do that at dhall at firstrf dot com

Dan,
You wouldn't happen to have any dimensions or plans for that simpit would you. I would love to mimic that here at the house (minus the HUD) and adapt it to my specifications.
Thanks
Justin

Justin,
I will send you the AutoCAD file of my design but I will need your email address. Just contact me at dhall at firstrf dot com and I'll reply with the attachment. I made mods on the fly or as I went along so these are a great starting point. You can also download Draftsight for free and use that to view or change the drawings. I hope this helps! I'm also going to add some new pictures now that the sim is totally complete so look for those too.
