Hello everybody,
is it correct, that only landing lights are implemented at this model? Last night i did a night flieght and after landing switching from landing to taxi light *poff* everything was dark in front of me. :) Even switching left or right alone was not functional.
I´m, asking, because in Skalarki_IO and JL-softwareoverhead the functions are implemented. Does anyone know, if its correct, that the lights are missing or how i can fix this?

Hi,
I'm not too sure about which exact lights are implemented. But the taxi lights, strobes and landing lights at least should be there.
Make sure you have the effects file copied in the FS effects folder (these files are copied by my soft in the folder of the aircraft addon in FS, they should also be copied in the effects folder but it may have failed...)
Do you use FSX or FS9?

For me nosewheel light (low/high beam) as well as Runway turnoff are missing.
Beacon, strobe, wing & tail lights as well as logo light works.

Hi,
yes i can confirm, after recopying the files to effects, NW light and RWY turn is missing, Landing switch puts left and right to ON, even when only one side is selected.
Sim is P3D v2.3

Hi,
Has anyone ever tried to do with shockwave 3D Lights Redux lighting?
Would be interesting if anyone has tried this. My attempts have been up to now not been so successful.

Hi Karl,
I have actually some Shockwave lights manually added in aircraft.cfg and they are working (PA320, Jeehell FMGS and P3D v2.3). But Shockwave effects are pretty old and some reflections aren't perfect on the aircraft. The "Shockwave halo" is present, really nice with taxi and landing lights. I didn't add the Shockwave gauge in any panel, I don't know what this gauge was for.
I think there should be newer effects, much more precise and optimized for P3D, but I didn't search a lot ... Only one problem with light section of aircraft.cfg : it can't have more than 18 lines of effects. It seems to be a limitation since a long time (Fs9 or FsX). If anyone knows how to bypass this, I'm interested !
I'll try to post some pictures if you wish to have a look.

This looks much better than before from the normal lighting. It would also be interesting if inside of the cockpit has a better illumination of the taxiways and runnways? Please can you send me the txt file for this Shockwave lights or give me a hint where I can find this?

Effects are named "_dual" when I tried to improve them by modifying manually the fx file, unsuccessfully ... So, the _dual files are the original ones, without "_dual" in the name.
Shockwave lights are "narrow" because shadows are not rendered correctly. The brighter the light is, the worse the shadow is.
Another problem occurs : sometimes, the cockpit or logo light starts flashing (!) when I start the beacon ... Don't know why, switching them off then on stops their flashing.
If you find a way to bright the logo and cockpit lights, please tell me ... (for the cockpit, the fx_vclighth should be fine)
I also investigate for making the AirbusX taxi and landing lights working on the ifdg model (illumination of ground is much more realistic) but at this time, I don't see how it's possible.

that seems to be be nice idea with the shockwave lights. I bought it from Simmarket and installed them into FSX and the copied the .fx files to P3D. Unfortunatly, i didn´t got it working for the JL-airbus by using your section in my aircraft.cfg.
The navlights are always on and cant be switched off and when i switch on one landing, everything goes ON (Left, right and wheel), taxi alone doesnt work.
Do i have to setup any other files except aircraft.cfg on my setup?

Yes, I also have a similar problem. I don't know how JL overhead manages FS lights, but switching some of them on or off on the overhead doesn't update (for me) the corresponding bit in fsuipc offset 0D0C.
In my case :
- Landing lights are working (but right and left together, they are not separated). If I switch them on, bit 2 in fsuipc offset 0D0C is updated.
- Nav lights : Strange, I can turn them on with the OVHD switch, but they don't return to off even if switch is set back to off.
- Strobes are working fine
- Taxi light doesn"t work, the overhead switch doesn't modify my offset 0D0C.
- Same for logo, wings and beacon, offset isn't updated.
- I have linked the FS cockpit light directly with a backlight switch in the cockpit. So, when my panels are backlighted, the cockpit light appears in FS.
So, waiting for a "real" overhead, I had to manage some lights manually in my sioc code, with sioc (cockpit) switches or joystick buttons.
Concerning the shockwave lights, ok for the fx file copied into P3D/Effects. But editing your fx file with a text editor, you'll see a bmp file (in section [ParticleAttributes.x]) which also have to be copied in Effects/Texture. Check for this file too.
For example, in fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow.fx, you can find Texture=fx_swave_lights_1.bmp.
This file have to be copied in Effects/texture.

Just installed the last update (09/26) and all the lights are now working correctly with overhead switches :-) (except rwy turnoff which is not implemented in ifdg model)
@Karl : fx_vclighth.fx is perfect for cockpit lightning.

Thx to frederic and Jean-Luc, after reconfig of my aircraft.cfg with new entries and shockwave files with corresponding texturefiles (you were right, the *.bmp were missing), lights are working now!

Also here the taxi lights now work in two different intensities (Taxi / Takeoff).

for the differential taxilights did you used additional lines in config, or how did you got it working?
Does someone know, how to get the strobes be synchronized as in real?

I ran the autoupdater and then it worked. No editing at all.
I did not verify the view of the plane, only that looking from the inside of the Flight deck the lights were seen on the ground.
As for the exterior view I have earlier upgraded with shockwave lights - as I have for all my AI planes. A GREAT improvement in P3D.
Yesterday I flew ILS 26L at EGKK and were able to see the two planes ahead on the ILS. A great experience.

i also use P3D, but after5 update to 2.4 with newest update of fmgs, all lights are flickering in outside view and taxi lights only work in one mode. Is it possible to you post your light config in aircraft.cfg, so i can compare it with my settings? I use the settings from frederic at this time, but i dont know, if the flickering is caused due new fmgs or the uodate to 2.4.

Im on 2.2 just getting ready to update to 2.3 and 2.4.
I will add my light section here when I get home tonight.
I cant imagine FMGS causes that. Must be either Shockwave, P3D or your Nvidia driver. Is it independant of HDR and other light settings in P3D?

checked your config in my rig, but without success, taxi light is flieckering in outside view and inside no changes between taxi and TO-light, also strobes not working properly. It seems, that in new 2.4 the textures are not properly loaded, it looks like, that P3D tries to load them, but uses different ones every time. e.g. strobe effect for Navred...

Hi guys,
Just chiming in here as very interested in these lights...
If I understand correctly, i buy the Shockwave lights and install into P3D 2.4....then using the config form above they should work on the PA320? Is it that simple or have i missed something?

That worked for me - also under P3D2.4.
Now the real asset in the shockwave is the effect on AI aircraft. I have been installing the shockwave lights on all my WorldofAI aircraft files.
This lights up the sky...

Slight problem now... have bought the lights form FSS...but it wont install into P3D! I have FSX.exe from and old FSX i used to have but its not enough as all the registry stuff has been deleted etc...
How do i get around this issue?
Do you have the migration tool?
Perhaps that is needed...

Ok update! Have installed the files and from what i have read the BMPs needed installing as well so copied those over too..
I dont seem to get the reflection on the engine cowlings though as the pictures show?
I installed into FSX and copied the .FX files to the effects folder in P3D... and the textures into the texture folder... the lights are there i think but not as in the pictures shown in this thread... is there anything else i should be aware of?
Also, how do you add to AI? I have UT2 and tried copying the FX file name into the aircraft config... is there anything else needed to make them work? I still have no green and red lights from any Ai?

Is there another model on the market for p3d v4 to have indipendent left and right landing lights, to simulate the runway turnoff lights and so on? Maybe someone can model it with 0D0C offset?
