Hi, I'm Kev
After years of simming, from early beginnings when simulators looked like the asteroid arcade game, up to FSX/P3d, gaining my PPL along the way but unable to maintain it financially, I've decided to join your ranks and build a 737 home cockpit.
Recently I fly mostly the PMDG 738 and their JS41 which mixes things up a bit. I've enjoyed controlling too, particularly on the FPI network with my pals at the JHB virtual airline.
In the past I've invested in simulator time, originally at LGW around 1999 in an early 737-200 motion platform at Thales, but more recently a few trips at Redhill with Jonathan at pmflight.co.uk. This has no motion but is totally immersive and he is really good. His initial £80/hr has almost doubled due to the popularity amongst training pilots, so I need to build something to continue getting my fix!
I'm awaiting delivery of my first investment - the MIP, of course. I'll post pictures and explanations as things begin. I've collected lots of "bits" along the way and done plenty of soldering in my time too. I have a couple of friends with particular skills, one electronics whiz and one engineer and I've already sounded them out for help. Tony is charged already looking for an economic solution for the overhead engine start actuator. All I need in the team now is a marriage guidance specialist!
Thanks to you all for yards of information posted here and elsewhere to date, and for advise and solutions to what I imagine will be many future questions.
best wishes
Kev
