View Full Version : Two small questions

Hi,
Two small questions or maybe problems, naturally aimed towards Enrico...
The first is related to the latest GC build, where as Enrico says in the
textfile "some small changes to PFD for 747 (RA / diamonds" and those truly
mix up thing for the 737.
First of all the shapes became truly 747ish, but the main problem is that
the diamonds become "active" at the very last moment, actually when the
plane is right on localizer and glideslope. I was very happy with the old
ones...
The second is related to the RCDU. Whenever I try to enter either a sid or
star or runway from the RCDU, it either quits completely, or just freezes
for minutes. Is it supposed to read the entire database from the main cdu's
PC? Of course I am running the two on two different PCs.

What is the name of your aircraft configuration file, does it have 737 in
it? Can you send me a photo of what you see via e-mail, because I had both
737 and 747 people telling me it looked much better this way.

I will check this.

Yes, I have the 737 in its name. Changing it to and back to a 747 changes
the GC setup, so it's fine there.
The problem is not the pure 'look' but the fact that the diamond are not
'active' till the last moment. I attach a pic.

Are you quite sure that this is the case with the APP or LOC mode off?

Hi Enrico,
> Are you quite sure that this is the case with the APP or LOC mode off?
I was sure until this afternoon... I made some tests and it seems to
work fine, my sincere apologies...
However by now I know what misguided me as far as the black diamond's
appearance goes. They are almost invisible because of the lack of the
magenta borders.
The 'unfilled' diamonds are black now, although they need to be magenta when
'empty' and become fully filled magenta when captured.

Hmmm...

But they only turn magenta bordered when they they are starting to capture
and fill when they are on the LOC/GS? I will check as well.
Did you have a problem with them being more diamond shaped than before?
Because they are that way it seems.
I will check with Jonathan while he is here in the next couple of days.

I have tried to dig up a real photo to show it, without any success so far.
The 737 manual says:
"fills in solid magenta when within 2 1/2 dots from center"
It's the case with both localizer and glide slope.
This seems to be definitely happening late, specially with glide slope.

That's the way it is described in the B744 too.

Michel,

Well, yes and to make Enrico a bit more aggravated, today I confirmed that
the unfilled diamonds are indeed magenta...
