Greetings All,
I've recently joined the staff of TNC's Michigan chapter office, filling
their newly created position of GIS Manager. As one of my initial tasks in
this role, I'm developing a GIS Needs Assessment survey for the chapter.
The
intended audience is current GIS users and non-users alike to help me get a
better sense of how various groups within the chapter use spatial data and
map products, our current data and technology assets, and to learn what our
short and long-term information management and technology needs might be.
I've looked at a few examples of Need Assessment reports on-line. However,
I'm wondering if any of you have designed and/or conducted such a survey
(either within your chapter or for a different organization) and what
suggestions you might care to offer (e.g., key points to hit, problems
encountered, examples of good GIS Needs Assessment surveys, etc.). Thanks
in
advance for any guidance that any of you care to offer and I'll be happy to
post a summary of responses back to the list in a week or so.
Regards,
Steve

I would be interested in seeing what others have done for a GIS needs
assessment survey as well.
