View Full Version : So what is the best way to control the BeoingND?

Hi Folks,

Now that I have found out that the mcp is overwriting my pfd commands, I am

trying to find non-pfd equivilents to all the pfd controls.

How are people that have the Glass C, MCP and CDU running controlling their

EFIS/PFD?

What is the preferred method?

I can see equivalents for some 0x4f2 commands in the 0x4f command set, but
not all..

What is the 'order of preference in selecting which interface to use to
control the efis?

I can see the 0x4f4 commandset, the 0x541c button controls, the 5520/2,
5524, and 5526 offsets

Any advice would be welcome.

Sorry, some typos.

I had intended to say I am moving from the 0x4f4 to the 0x4f2.

So the message should have read:

Others issues I have encountered along these lines:

How you do:

Terrain toggle for Capt and Fo without using 4f4?
How do you toggle Wxr for Fo without using 4f4?

What is the best way to set the ND map range for the Capt or Fo without
using 4f4? The 541C and 5420 offsets do not have '5' controls.
I am guessing that 4f6 gets overwriten by the mcp?

Cheers!
Stuart.

Hi,

if you use the offsets used by the MCP to talk to the Glass
Cockpit, then they will be overridden. Some people only use
the Glass Cockpit, so they talk directly to the GC.

4F2 directly controls the MCP buttons, as you know, and that
is the preferred method. The other 32 bit toggles are mostly
used by people who go through the FSUIPC keyboard and button
commands I think.

> I can see the 0x4f4 commandset

Best stay away from that for MCP controlled stuff.

> the 0x541c button controls, the 5520/2, 5524, and 5526
> offsets

In offset 04F4 I write...

Please note, these commands go directly to the Glass
Cockpit, if you do not want the MCP or FCU to override them,
then please use the MCP commands in 0x4F2 or 0x5520.

5520 and the following ones are for the first officer
controls, and should be usable as well.

What is the practical problem at this stage?

Ciao

Enrico

Hi,

You can do this with 4F2 from today, please get the current
MCP from www.projectmagenta.com/latest.html and check the
new docs on www.projectmagenta.com/pmoffsets.html ... the B,
S and M commands have corresponding values in 4F2 now,
please let me know whether this helps or you need any
further assistance.

Hi Enrico,

There are two new MCPs with today's date -- "s" and "t" versions. The latter
is later, but it is a partial file I think -- a lot smaller, and Winzip
doesn't like it at all.

Best Regards,

Pete

Cheers for pointing it out... it's been a while since an
upload went bad... doing it again now.

Hi Enrico,

I have tried this with the '403t' build.

I can use the normal 'KNNN' codes okay, but none of the 301, 401 or 501
codes appear to be working.

I can see them go into 0x4f2, and its being set back to 0, but nothing else

is happening.

I did most of my testing on trying to set the range using 40n and trying to

set the ND mode with 50n.

Hi Stuart,

I do not know which build changed that part, in any case the
current one is 404 on www.projectmagenta.com/updates.html...
newer builds of CDU and GC are there as well.

The values are re-set in any case, so that is no symptom for
it working or not working. And I tested it quite a bit so I
did not expect this surprise.

Also, make sure your Glass Cockpit is set to Captain side if
you are using 401 rather than 411.

Ciao

Enrico

Nope, still no luck.

I have download the builds today, and still can not control the captains PFD

with the 501-504 commands.

GC is build 434, MCP is 404, cdu is 370.

I can set the mode to any mode using the 66-69 commands to set the captains

mode, but neither the 501-504's or the 511-514 commands are working.

When in map mode the 40x and 41x commands do not change the range.

The 30x's 31x's are working fine.

Are there any configuration settings needed to enable these? Any config
settings that would disable them?

IgnoreMCPEFIS is set to off in the GC's.

Cheers,
Stuart Whelan.
