Hi all,

Anyone have problem with the new release of CDU update?

I cannot enter waypoint in LEGS page and encounter some problems with SID entry.

RTE page: 3 situations:
1. If I enter the the SID name in RTE page directly, it will show DIRECT in CIA line and the SID name in TO line. Which I think should be wrong. It should be SID in VIA, SID ending waypoint in TO position. (please correct me if I am wrong)

2. If I select rwy and SID and airway in "DEP APR" page WITHOUT activate it. It will
show up as everything correct in RTE page and I can continue enter data in
RTE page as well. However, it shows up no waypoint data in LEGS page.

3. If I select rwy and SID and airway in "DEP APR" page AND activate it. RTE page will show a strange display (no SID ending waypoint show, airway in TO line). LEGS page shows waypoint data BUT cannot enter any manually.

Do you have the same problem for current CDU version 386?

I have this problems too, very strange things happens when selecting sids, transitions and route. Can't delete waypoints, the saved flightplans are not loaded and other things, please Enrico look at these. I was unable to fly LIMC sid ROM6C transition AOS8J.
'cause can't delete route disco and if i try to delete, all the flightplan is flushed.

Hi all,

Yes, I report to Enrico once I got this problem. However, he cannot reproduce the same problem. That's why I found it strange. I am using the latest beta. I didn't try using airway to draw a flight plan before (i didnt learn it before). Therefore, I don't know if this is an existied error.

Any other Boeing GC user encounter the same problem when using airway to create a flight plan?

Hello,
I have some semilar problems using the CDU. If I insert a DEP I am unable to select any direct to until I delete the whole departure Procedure.
Could it be, that the normal function of the CDU is very dependent of the correct installing and configuration of the CDU software?
It is impossible to insert a missed approach routing followed on a go around.
I am not so familar with the Boeing CDU cause I am flying A 319`s, but my brother is flying the real NG and was very disappointed about these malfunctions of the CDU. He told me that the PMDG CDU is working much more realistic. I think there is a error in my setup, cause all the PM software is working so fine and reliable.

Just receive Enrico's advice:

"Can you please go away from the navigraph database? I think they may have
done a wrong conversion.

Please use both CDU and Navdata from www.projectmagenta.com/latest.html
"

I will change back to betanavdata1206 for a look later on. Hope everything back to normal. Will report later.

Hi Brian, are you using Navigraph's data base?

dcutugno

What? I will go back to betanavdata for a try but i paid for latest navigraph, will they give back credits that i spent?

No one sure what happen right now. If the problem is caused by the new Navigraph, I am sure they will do something.

I tried using the beta CDU nav data. Same problem happen.

After enter SID and airway info in RTE page, nothing show up in LEGS. Not even a single waypoint.

Anyone know if there is some video capture software? so I can capture a short video clip to Enrico. As he cannot reproduce the problem we having.

Hello Alkit,

it seems that I have similar problems (using CDU last beta and Navigraph data).
I´ve 2 years experience with PMDG CDU, and I´ve started using PM just 2 weeks ago. First I thought that PMDG is not so accurate and I have a lack of knowledge in "real" CDU programming. But I have several problems programming and using routes.

For those who have no problems with the CDU, how accurate is the Magenta CDU in comparison to PMDG and to the REAL Boeing CDU ???

Besides: Are there any good Boeing CDU manuals around for learning the real/Magenta methods of unsing the CDU...

Bye,
Carsten

Hi Carsten,

I don't have much experience with PMDG myself. I did try its CDU in my friend's home and it seems good. Not sure accuracy. My other pilot friend (fly 734, 744) said it is quite realistic in panel and system, but not the flight control characteristic.

For PM, it CAN BE very realistic. Now what we are talking about are just bugs. I am sure it will be fixed, as it is the very basic function.

Why on CDU is wrong?

PS1. LEGS work good in cdu384. For instance FIX DF123 (near EDDF) not disappears when enter in LEGS page.
PS2. On MCDU demo is same appdata problem.

CDU 387 report (good news) All major bugs fixed. Operational now!!!!!

Now LEGS page show up all waypoints after SID and airways insert
Manually insert waypoint in LEGS page OK

------------------------------------------------------------

Minor issue (may caused by Navigraph)

Example, departure VHHH
After selecting SID OCEA2A in DEP/ARR only, then RTE page shows: (perfect for this one)
VIA TO
OCEA2A.OCEAN OCEAN

However, if select SID OCEA2A and airway V3 "BOTH" in DEP/ARR page, then RTE page shows:
VIA TO
OCEA2A.V3 V3

From my understanding of Honeywell CDU pilot guide, airway name should appear in "VIA" line. "To" line means "a point" that will fly to, Airway is not a specific point. The correct display when selected SID OCEAN 2A and V3 should be:

VIA TO
OCEA2A OCEAN
V3 -----

OCEAN is the exit waypoint of this SID. Leave the TO line bank for entering the exit waypoint (this example is ENVAR)

VIA TO
OCEA2A OCEAN
V3 ENVAR

Please correct me if anything above is wrong.

Hello,
this morning I tried the latest CDU build (387a) and switched back to the gc- and cdu nav 0612.
Still no way to get a nearly realistic CDU function.
Unable to delete nor fly direct to any waypoint until I delete the complete departure.
The departure seems to be frozen.

Hi Brian,

Just do a short test with FS off. Confirm your problem. Seems the SID is frozen (cant change/ or make short cut). But I do not know how does the SID work in CDU in real life. Whether they can be change?! (my book doesnt tell that) Anyone can advise please??

By the way, Enrico is in the trip, we better report to him after Tuesday. Thanks so much for his quick response and action even during his trip.

Gentlemen, remember that the PM team will not be frequenting this forum. This is a question to ask them direct. support@projectmagenta.com ask them. Enrico, or one of the team will answer you directly. Also remember it is only Wednesday and Enrico has been here in the States for a while and is entitled to a little family time. I am sure he will have at least some kind of answer by the end of the week for us.

OK new version is out!

And the good news: SID problem fixed!
and the bad news: you cannot see the changes of a route before press activate! This bug is new ...

Anybody have the same problem with CDU387c ?

Best regards
