I am new to this forum so please forgive me if I post in the wrong spot.

I am looking for advice. I am wondering how many buttons, rotary encoders and switches I am likely to need for each panel. That is the Overhead, Pedestal and MIP. overall numbers are ok.

I am looking at maybe buying the Flight Deck Technology boards and need to get an idea of how many imput and outputs i will require.

I will probably buy one board for the pedestal, one for the overhead and one for the MIP.

It seems logical to break it up that way.

Any comments welcome.

Oh and any users of this system please let me know your thoughts.

Cheers

Well.. I do not have the MIP wired yet but I can talk about the OH.. I think there was some where close to 200 inputs needed. Not physical switches but a lot of switches have 2 positions. And I did not wire switches that did not do anything. And there are around 100 working annunciators. Thats just the over head bit that should get you started!

Thanks Bob, I found some drawings of the panels so was able to count the switches.

Yes count them but remember, some of the switches need 2 positions.

Sim-Boards can have 'close', 'open' or 'change of state' commands on the one node recognizing any switch position, they also scan switch position on boot up.
