Hello all, this is my first post. I have recently retired and now look forward to pursuing the hobby of flight sim and cockpit building. I have a PPL but have not flown for several years thus the interest in flight simulation. After looking at some of the photo's it absolutely blew me away as I really only want to build a small GA cockpit.

Before settling for "a small GA cockpit" may be you could try some heavier metal...may be a big twin...with turbines...or a small jet...or a big jet...
Just to say that simulation allows you to go a step further than what you already master....

Cheers mate, I too was flying for real but the expense of it dried up the fun. I built the sim to replace real flying and it certainly does the trick. Whatever you decide to build Airliner or GA the help is here. 737 is probably the easiest to do due to off the shelf parts availability but the GA stuff is getting pretty good too. Hard choice I imagine!

You must be so excited. Retirement is a great time in life. I only have like 25-30 years left (60 years if I keep spending money on the sim) I am envious, because retired life will give you all the time you need to relax and build the Sim you want at your own pace.

Please know that although some of these Sims you see are advanced, It didn't take to much to get them to where they are. Do not be discouraged by any roadblocks you may encounter along the way. We are all here to help you along the road of the unknown. Chances are most of us have seen it, Done it, and experienced it.

Please ask as many questions as you like, and lets help you to your goal of the GA Aircraft.

Then we can swing you over to the Heavy Metal and convince you to start over again :)

Hi Chris and welcome to the site.

Build whatever you like that you're interested in. As one of my flight instructors used to tell me, "flying is flying no matter what you're flying".

Everytime I used to go to the airport and look at the heavy metal I'd remember this phrase.

Now if you're REALLY crazy, build a 727 simulator. ;)

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys. I shall be taking a small break up to North Queensland and the Gulf country for a couple of months and when I get back I shall settle down and be the old fart that I'm supposed to be and get into some pit building. Should be a very exciting time setting up the sim.
