Apache longbow pit

Can anybody please point me in the right direction of the dimensions of the above please?

Also can anyone help with some panel info, I have got details/pics of all them - apart from the last row of detail on the "Comm" panel (the Aux section) and the details of the panel in front of the "Emergency" (with one button and one toggle switch).

Lastly how/where does one switch on/off the cockpit and landing lights?

Dude...

I am sure we have many tutorials on how to build your panels, just modify what people have done in their pits to the panels you have for the apache.

Search the forums, and you will find many techniques on how to build the panels from scratch.

As for how to fly (control lights) Etc. Your going to have to do some research there. Maybe download a couple free apaches for flightsim at flightsim.com and see where everything is located.

Thats a great place to start.

Thanks Trevor, I have found a guy in the US who makes CNC panels for F16 pit builders at a reasonable price and they look fabulous. But I do need to supply him with the proper info - so I guess I'll have to keep hunting...

Couldn't find any AH-64Ds on flightsim.com, the excellent model at AlphaSim is the wrong version and the Abacus one is a tiny bit of a fudge IMO...

I have never had too much interest in helos due to several factors (namely difficulty in flying them!) but when I read your post, it gave me the 'cool' factor feeling. You will probably run into some fairly large issues in trying to get this thing 'off the ground' as a sim, but if you do Im sure it will rock. I had the thought, 'Imagine having an Apache (my all time favorite helo) sim with NicD's 180 degree visuals'. Wow.

Wow, this sounds like a great project. I fly GA but was sooo tempted to work on a heli sim myself. Please do share your pit in photos as I would love to see how it turns out.

After i downloaded my new chopper, i had a look around & found this link to a nice ms ff stick conversion for chopper use.
Very interesting & do able.

There is a version of Janes Longbow that is out dated of course, however it comes with an excellent explanation of the Apaches MFD's and systems. I aquired it to know what needs to be simulated for a helmet mounted HUD or FLIR goggles. I think this could be easily accomplished with a set of personal monitor goggles and the right freeware.

There are some nice helicopter pits on the homebuilt forum at hovercontrol.com.
Particularly a real nice 206 pit done by a fellow named hyfly.

They are mostly using software called Dodosim realistic helicopter models. I think it is a addon to the 206 that adds realistic startups ,hot starts etc. and some flight characteristic upgrades.
