Well Simon, I know you have a completed real pedestal and photos are already floating around the mycockpit forum so I thought I would follow suit

Excellent purchase! Not something you see everyday. The fuel panel will be easy to rewire, however im unsure how airbus mechanise their throttles, I assume they are similar to the boeing design. Looks like you will either have to rework the design and cut the bottom linkages out, or dig a large whole in your floor!

Hi Geremy, don't think my neighbors, strata, or the spouse would enjoy a hole in the floor We will try building a platform in the future stage. I would like to maintain the throttle as it is with minimum hacking and restructuring -- there are wires that run to the front of the throttle into a cannon plug -- I am assuming this is for the backlighting and ATHR/disconnect -- do you know anywhere that sells aviation plugs? I do not want to start cutting wires!

They are male plug connectors, will most probably go with Dupoint connectors as Simon has recommended.

I have opened up the Throttle Control Unit -- potentiometers (6 for each lever); each pot seems to have 4 wires -- does anyone have a clue why this may be the case? There is a transducer also next to the pot mechanism

i cant really say anything about the throttle as mine is stored a few hundred miles away at the moment but experience in converting Original Panels for the sim tells me that cutting wires makes it all way easier. Some switches, poti or Encoder of the original one have sometimes 15-20 wires, but all you need is maybe three of them. Some of them are e.g. connectors between two Potis or connectors to resistors etc - which is apparently needed in the real plane but not in the sim. And if you try to connect it via the Original Plug, it might not work.

For the poti you will most probably only need 3 wires - which will be easy in that case to find out and maybe only 1-2 potis in total. But this is just guessing. E.g. the encoder in the Radio Panel has 6 wires but works perfectly with only 5 connected. Although the wiring is somewhat different to the normal ones. It is sometimes trying trying trying
As soon as you find out which cable you need, cut the other ones or at least put them together and fix them somewhere so that you can keep a clean overview.

And most important....write down which cables connect which part, like for a korry what is the Switch, what the Upper/lower lights. Makes it easier for new projects and saves a lot of time if a cable sneaks out of its Position. Because so far i have not found a wiring diagramm of any real part unfortunately.

Hi Volker, yes wiring to the original wires is easier but I would cringe if I had to cut them. Still some experimenting to do here, but it looks like they wire directly to the canon plugs. I will do some more testing with a multimeter to see if the pots can be connected this way.

Hi,
There is no need to cut wires. You have two resolvers and six pots for each engine. Plugs C and D are resolver plugs/pins. Plugs A and B are potentiometer plugs/pins. You only need one pot so you can try plug A pins B,J as terminals and A as wiper.
