Touch screen panel kit??
I have 2 10.4" displays. One is designated to become the lower EICAS; the other one I intend to use for an EFB. Now I was wondering if I could convert this regular TFT into a touch screen panel display using a touch screen panel kit. I googled a bit and found some manufacturers (o.a. in Asia). But I would like to know if there are other builders who have done this, which kit they used and what their experiences are.
Thanks,
JWS

Re: Touch screen panel kit??
I use a similar touch kit on a 19" monitor for a button screen application in WideFS. Works great, I calibrate it each time the pc boots up and it gives me no problems.

Den,
Is it necessairy to recalibrate every time you boot your pc?
Where did you buy the kit?

Re: Touch screen panel kit??
It's not absolutely necessary, I just have it set so that when the pc boots up it starts the 4 point callibration automatically. It only takes a few seconds and it makes sure it is working correctly.
I can't remember where I got it from, I've had it about 5 years now, but here is a link to something identical I found on Ebay recently when I was considering another one.

You just need to be careful that you get the right size and format for your monitor, then it fits inside the case to hold it in place. Just be careful when you fit it that you don't pinch it with the frame or it won't work properly. I used home-made wooden spacers to prevent this happening.
