Windows 7 and FSPhidgets Stable Version
Dear all,
Greetings to all of you from India.
While I have been a member of these forums are a while now, this is my first post out here.
I'm intent on building myself a home pit based on F/A-18E from Vertical Reality Simulations (VRS). I maintain a log of my build on my blog (haven't really started to 'build' yet, but am just collecting parts right now).
While for the 'input' part of my pit, I have already made a decision to use Leo Bodnar's boards, I was having some difficulty chosing the correct 'output' board to drive my LEDs/Annunciators. I did experiment with Arduino Leonardo, but have now given it up since the coding skills necessary to make that board work are more than I will be able to acquire.
A few days back, I managed to make contact with a local sub-vendor of phidget boards in India, and am now seriously considering purchasing the PhidgetLED64-Advanced board to drive my LEDs. For last two days I have been reading up on as much material on FS2Phidgets as is available on these forums.
I need help/advice from fellow builders on following issues:-
1. Which is the most recent (or stable) release of FS2Phidgets that folks are now working with?
In the downloads section, I see three versions listed. Version 4.3.86, 4.3.65 and 5.0.14.
Are these versions 'stand alone' products or are they incremental updates (as in, I need a base version installed and then update them using these versions)?
I have downloaded all three, just in case.
Are there any other versions/updates that are being used, but not listed on the downloads link. If yes, where could I find them?
2. Issue with .Net Ver 1.
Purely on a hunch, I thought, I will start with Version 5.0.14.
While trying to install it, the setup asks for .Net ver 1 to be installed on my computer. I already have version 4 installed (and am given to understand that multiple versions of .Net can be installed at the same time). But, when I try to download and install ver 1 from Microsoft support site, I am unable to do so. The installer aborts after warning me that 'there are known compatibility issues with this product'. (I am working with Win 7 64bit Home Premium). Until I do not update (or de-rate) my .Net installation, I can install FS2Phidgets.
How did others manage to resolve this issue?
3. Is FS2Phidgets, still an active product?
While looking through some forum posts (dated about an year back), there was a mention that Alan (creator of this software) is caught up with real life issues and is no longer able to support the product. At other places, I have seen reply's to certain forum posts by Coconut Air (which I think is Alan's handle also), as recent as Jan 2013.
Is Alan still around? Is the product still being updated/patched regularly?
In anticipation of your reply's, I thank you all for your time and help.
Happy landings.

Re: Windows 7 and FSPhidgets Stable Version
Hi Mickey, for fs2phidget version you have to download first:
- 4.3.65 version
- Than the patch 4.3.66
- And the latest one 4.3.86
Once you download the 4.3.65 install it on you desktop, than download the 4.3.66 version and istall in the folder of the 4.3.65 (just replace the "4.3.65" .EXE by the "4.3.66").
Same step with the 4.3.86 version, once you dowload it, replace the "4.3.66" .EXE by the patch "4.3.86", and that it.
Work fine with phidget led64.
NB:if you don't find the 4.3.66 patch on the download section PM me i well send you
Regard
Ryadh

Re: Windows 7 and FSPhidgets Stable Version
Hi Ryadh,
Thank you very much for responding to my introductory post and guiding me.
I only have the versions 4.3.65 and 4.3.86 and do not have the 4.3.66 file. Will appreciate if you could send a copy of that file to me.
Regards,
Mickey

Re: Windows 7 and FSPhidgets Stable Version
Thanks again Ryadh.
I had already read through this post before making my first post. Infact, just like me, Tom_G_2010 also wasn't able to install .Net Ver 1 on his computer. My setup just doesn't proceed, even after I click to accept the incompatibility warning of Windows 7.Mickey 'AviaScorp' Sharma
