    A320 heavy weight overhead-panel

    Hi guys,

how did you manage to fit a heavy A320 overhead-panel (about 30 kg磗) on top of the cockpit ?
Did you built out of wood, or metal, or how can I manage it to be safe up there ?

    Thanks,

    Stevie

    Re: A320 heavy weight overhead-panel

I had Skalarki overhead in it's wooden cases and I decided that it was just too heavy to mount in my frame.
I eventually bought the Vier-im-Pott diy overhead frame. and mounting brackets. I then added safety wires to allow me to drop the overhead and support it for maintenance. I also made my own top covers to keep the dust out.

Thanks John, and are you happy with Vier-im-Pott frame ? Is it about 1300 EUR ? ...
So the problem I see to built it on my own is the stability and the fact that, if there should be a 220 degrees visual later, I can磘 built a usual wooden frame, because it would disturb the view onto the screen at some points.

So how is your experience with the kost-version ?

    Thanks, Stevie

The frame works very well and stiffens up well as the windows and roof panels are fitted.
The build quality of all their parts is very good but I think are very expensive.
They have a limited market and have to re-coup their development cost so I do understand why they charge what they do.
I am pleased with my cockpit but I still have a way to go yet.

    That looks fantastic John,
your components like overhead-walls and sides are from skalarki or vier-im-pott, too ?
That is fun to work and fly, I can imagine ... boy I have to work a lot next years

    Cheers, Stevie
