Servo Support
When will FSPhidget support servo output to enable servo driven instruments to be attached e.g. Simkits Instruments?
This would be most welcome!
Regards,
Bill.

Servos and simkits
Hi Bill,
We recently added servo control to the program. We have 2 users using servos with auto-throttles right now. We are doing our first round of debugging to smooth a few things out. I will talk to Alan about whether or not the servo control is ready for simkits yet. I'll repost when I have more info, but it's safe to say that if it isn't ready right now it will be soon

Hi Matt,
Many thanks for your very positive reply.
I guess I would be happy if I could quickly drive any servo regardless of manufacture etc.!! I can quickly write a "smoothing algorithm" to sort out jitter etc. and also do something about calibration.
Getting an easy to use interface to FS2004 that is "standard" is the major part of the problem and FSphidgets could well solve this!!
I wish you every success.
Best regards,
Bill.

Good News
Hi,
No problem at all
I talked to Alan and he said that yes, you can calibrate the servos already for servo driven displays. He has calibration administration capabilities already in the software. I'm going to suggest that you give it a week or two before downloading and trying it out though. We are in the middle of taking care of all the bugs that have been reported in the last 2 weeks and he plans to switch to a flat text file and dump the MDB database. A good change that will make it much easier for everyone to handle making custom changes themselves and shrink the download files.
After that update has been done you should be golden for giving the simkits a try. Keep an eye on the software page. When the new version is posted we will also post a list of the changes.
