Glaresheild overhang
Hi Guys/Girls
Just a general question regarding the overhang of the glareshield from the M.I.P to the M.C.P on a 737ng. I am under the impression that it overhangs the M.I.P by 300mm?? It seems a bit much when I look at it and I can't seem to find any measurements to help me.
Does anyone have these correct measurements? Or would it be better just to ask how much overhang other 737 builders have.
Thanks people.

I forget now what you're building, but the 727 and 737-200 glareshield overhangs the MIP by 9-3/4" to the front edge of the fire rack, 11" to the edge of the top of the glareshield, and 12-5/8" to the front of the fire handles.
It's a lot farther than I thought too, but these are the real parts. It might not be that much for newer aircraft.Boeing Skunk Works

Thanks mate.
It all seems or i should say doesnt look right, i have now got new infomation that Lower edge of MCP is about 320mm aft from the Main Inst Panel and is angled about 15 degrees.
The overhang just gets bigger and bigger

Hi Damien,
I have been on the flight deck of Virgin Blue VH-VOS (737-800NG) with my tape measure! The face of the MCP was exactly 310mm from the face of the MIP. In my sim I made it 260mm as the whole glareshield is scaled to the CP Flight MCP, about 85%. You would be happy with anywhere between 260 - 310 I reckon, I don't have too many sun glare problems!!!

Thanks Gwyn
It's funny you say VH-VOS seem im looking right at this aircraft as I type this from work.....You would think that a guy like me that has access
to all the VB aircraft cockpits and sit in the jump seat every time I fly I would have all the measurements in the world BUT NO! good old lazy me....
I was actually thinking about going down stairs today to take a good look with one of the engineer's tape measures.
Thanks Gwyn I think ill try and go the shorter option myself as there is not much sunlight in my sim room...
